Avi Lewis @avilewis.ca · 22/07/2026These companies, and the tech oligarchs leading them, are completely out of control. The Carney government is committing a grave error by embracing corporate generative AI with no controls, regulation, or red lines whatsoever. 313125
Avi Lewis @avilewis.ca · 22/07/2026We need a data centre moratorium, and a transparent, national debate on the threats AI poses, immediately. This is terrifying stuff that needs sunlight and government regulation with maximum urgency. 512815
Dirk Calloway @stankvicious.bsky.social · 22/07/2026Not a fan of AI or data centres, but wouldn't we need AI to defend from AI threats? 010
Matt Lie-Paehlke @mattliepaehlke.bsky.social · 22/07/2026We need limits on AI, but I'm not sure about a moratorium on data centres. Obviously some projects are bad in certain locations, but we already send too much data to the US, and the solution to that isn't blocking data centre construction. 100
Josh @jokersmild.bsky.social · 22/07/2026It is so refreshing to hear a politician say this. NDP you have my vote! 010
Don Macfarlane @revmod.bsky.social · 22/07/2026I'm all for a data centre moratorium, but the "breaking containment" story is nonsense pushed by the very same AI-snake-oil salesfolks who want us to believe they're on the verge of the Singularity. 150
Pause AI in BC Schools @aicaution.ca · 24/07/2026We need a moratorium on GenAI and chatbots in K-12, too. AI companies are targeting the lucrative education sector, preying on underfunded schools with the goal of creating users for life. Studies have shown that students who use chatbots learn less, remember less. They ace homework and fail exams 010
