Avi Lewis @avilewis.ca · 11/01/2026Under my leadership, the next time the NDP holds the balance of power in parliament, we’ll have one demand: proportional representation. Sous ma direction, la prochaine fois que le NPD détiendra la balance du pouvoir au Parlement, nous n'aurons qu'une exigence : la représentation proportionnelle. 1716643
simongood.bsky.social @simongood.bsky.social · 13/01/2026Heeeeere we go. Trudeau promised and never happens. It’s the right idea, of course. 000
Michael Bednarski 🇨🇦 @mikebednarski.bsky.social · 16/01/2026@avilewis.ca Unfortunately, I see nothing about proportional representation on your website. I worry that the NDP will continue to make electoral reform a low priority. 000
Roch Bourassa @rochbourassa.bsky.social · 11/01/2026Not just PR…but electoral reform! Let’s get our democracy and related system out of the Dark Ages. Among other changes: #FirstPastThePost must end! Someone (read: legacy parties!) must demo real leadership and yield artificial political power! If PR is your solution: go hard to sell it! #cdnpoli 050
Cyborg K9 🌹 @cyborgk9.bsky.social · 11/01/2026Are you set on MMP (like your predecessors), or are you open to any other form of PR? (eg. STV, AV+, Dual Member PR, Rural/Urban PR, etc.?) 120
Saeed Khan @saeedwkhan.bsky.social · 11/01/2026Wondering why the NDP uses a RANKED BALLOT method to choose its leader (as do other parties) but you're advocating a PR model for Canadian voters. leadership.ndp.ca/faq 100
Saeed Khan @saeedwkhan.bsky.social · 11/01/2026PR is no panacea. EVERY electoral system will be gamed. The current FPTP is problematic and not representative. Please explain why PR is better than Ranked Ballot. PR's problems include fringe parties holding too much power, and eg. Italy. Or racist parties with too much power - eg. France. 970
Captain Fin ☠️ @fintanhartnett.bsky.social · 12/01/2026Electoral reforms make a lot of sense, so glad to hear Mr Lewis banging the drum. My personal preference is PR but I'm open to anything other than fptp. Viva! 000
Arrête Mark Carney ⚜️ @lalegault.bsky.social · 11/01/2026Aim higher, when you’re Prime Minister 😉 000
Canadian Cynic @canadiancynic.bsky.social · 11/01/2026Nope ... ranked balloting, and I will at some point explain in detail why that is the way to go, and PR is stupid beyond belief. 320
Lmyspetorion 🇨🇦 @lmyspetorion.bsky.social · 11/01/2026Your frame should be “when we win government” rather than “next time the NDP holds the balance of power.” 000
Ed🔰🇨🇦 @denim.bsky.social · 12/01/2026This is what should have been done under Jagmeet but I’m at least glad people are figuring this out now. No set of minor reforms can outdo the importance of fixing our broken democracy before something truly catastrophic happens. 060

🇨🇦 crucialwax 🔵 @crucialwax.com · 14/01/2026With my current understanding of the options, I am in favour of Single Transfer Voting. It’s a rank choice ballot. I want to vote for a person that represents my riding and not a party that is disconnected from local concerns. STV could have larger ridings electing more than one rep per riding.en.wikipedia.orgSingle transferable vote - Wikipedia 010
Generation Squeeze @gensqueeze.ca · 13/01/2026Top of your list should be reforming Old Age Security. A retired couple with household income of $182,000/year receives $18,000 of OAS payments. Meanwhile, 400,000 seniors still live in poverty and young people can't afford housing. Doesn't seem efficient to us. action.gensqueeze.ca/fix_oas 020
