Niche market at best until battery energy density measured against both volume and weight matches hydrocarbons. Charging time is also a concern. For all but short commuter flights aircraft spend more time in the air than on the ground during working hours. How do I know? 30 years an airline pilot.

A big step forwards for Heart! Founded Sweden 2018, electric aircraft was to be in service 2026; cancelled 2022, replaced with series hybrid; changed to parallel hybrid in 2025, company moved to US. This is the first flight of the demonstrator, not the actual (unbuilt) passenger plane.

My wife just joined me in owning an #EV our combined charging costs on @octopus.energy came to just over £13 in July. She works 25 miles away and my daily trips are around 25 miles give or take. EV’s are easy to drive and cheap to run. #NoBrainer. Same goes for flying. #GreenEnergy.
