Yeah. That's why we have bicycle lanes as well, in Europe. It speeds up non-waste transport. Instead of taking a 1600kg vehicle to transport 160kg of people, you take 2 bikes. Or a bus. Or a train.

You either have law abiding pedestrians in Seattle or a lot of people are killed by busses. Where I live (a little to the south), pedestrians and bicyclists feel entitled--they own the roadways, disobey the rules of the road and expect vehicles to stop for them.

It just looks like they're "flying". They do still have speed limits. But the roads are probably shite so it rattles more. The cars stuck in traffic should ask themselves if they really NEED to drive all the way to their destination. Park & Rides are a thing!

That presumes you enforce them. We added a bunch of bus lines in LA for the upcoming Olympics... but there's essentially no enforcement of the law and Angeleno's will take any traffic advantage they can, until they get caught.

In Surrey BC, earlier admins had their hearts in the right place but made the mistake of putting in bike lanes, where bus lanes would’ve been far more effective.. ..the only people using the bike lanes are the homeless, who need the extra space for their ‘spare’ bikes..

Here in the Seattle area the numbnuts keep adding toll lanes instead of turning those lanes into bus lanes on the freeways. If they did I bet their ridership would skyrocket. I know I'd be on it instead of sitting in traffic, in my car and not the bus b/c the bus is idling right next to me.

Having buses drive faster doesn’t necessarily speed up transit as they have to make frequent stops. But if buses aren’t trapped behind cars while inattentive drivers alternate between raging and sucking on their screens? That helps tremendously!

I moved to Ottawa from Toronto (Ontario) and when I experienced this kind of setup, I loved it. Cities would find more people taking public transport in this setup because you can read or whatever while you're bus is travelling along with no slowdown due to traffic congestion.

Coming from a city that had bus lanes, yes, ok. This is a cool video. But it doesn't always work this well. Especially in areas with ignorant drivers. The bus lanes I have experienced have been clogged with bikes AND cars. Police were "too busy" to enforce those laws...
