I don't actually think you get to unilaterally declare nonbinary people who have never identified as such as transmasc/transfem purely based on their sex assigned at birth. Nonbinary people aren't just some middle point on a sliding scale between man and woman.

Like most labels, "transmasc" and "transfem" can be useful, but only if a person feels the label is right for them. Labels shouldn't be forced on others, but they should be used to find and describe yourself in a way that feels right.

How are nb people not in the middle? If we exist on a spectrum and they don’t identify as either end of said spectrum they have to wind up somewhere in the middle.

Yeah, if someone decided to call me transfemme, they'd get side-eyed incredibly hard over it. Hell, already had to do that in the past because I was told my ideal body plan was "enby enough to pass as a girl".

To me, those terms only *mean* the relationship between someone's transition and their assigned sex. They don't mean, like, "non-binary person who is masculine" or "non-binary person who is feminine" or anything like that. It's just that, like, trans people who are AFAB and trans people who are…

I’m not sure why it’s so difficult for some people to not assign labels to other people. Imagine if they did that when you were born, somebody else just assigning a label to you without giving you a say in the matter let alone asking you! That’d be so weird.

I can remember when the identity choice was only gay or straight ~ and if you said you were bi you were "in denial", as if you were supposed to pick a side. So glad there are so many gender identities now, tho it is a bit confusing. Still don't know what I am. I think I'll just be odd.

We humans love the binary. It’s either “this” or “that” and hardly ever “or the other thing”. As a cis het female who became a feminist in the 70s I hate the simplicity of the binary gender distinction which only serves the patriarchy/supremacy.
