Listening to James O’Brien talk to Laurence Rees (writer of The Nazi Mind: 12 Warnings From History) is terrifying. The parallels between now and then are stark. Dehumanisation of targeted groups, using conspiracy theories to propel propaganda. Playing on innate fears. It’s happening again.

It’s all happened before Supertanskii - problem is people have either forgotten or didn’t know. We’re too comfortable, think it can’t happen again. Thank you for reminding us!!

Read Ranulph Fiennes' 'My Heroes' on Rwanda, the incredible cold, simple, systematic demonisation by the rich media of the prosperous Tutsi, brewing up Hutu hate and blame for all their plutocrat-inflicted ills, til *click* "kill them all", the old nanny next door slaughters your babies.

Actually, the nazi-playbook was already blueprinted by Martin Luther who based it on the narratives of the medieval pogroms. Same mechanics in any of the documented racist and related regimes and campaigns.

We cannot be the people who remain silent , we cannot let others be conned by Farage etc we will suffer with them. I’m already sick of the RW normalising Farage he is a conman the “ a bit of cash in hand / low tax lot “ are already fooled by him. LBC sacked him once now he has a season ticket.

I never thought the world could descend back into that state, every year we remember what our ancestors did to protect us, we remind ourselves of the horrors that took place, and yet, here we are, with dictatorial leaders leading the world back to the worst times humanity has ever experienced...

We’ve been saying that it’s happening again for some time. The prior Tory govt managed to radicalise people to the extent that they tried to burn down asylum seeker hotels whilst chanting “stop the boats” a Tory campaign slogan and now most of them are aligned with Trump. Beyond disturbing.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers. This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder. Auschwitz took time.

In Germany that period of their history, the early 1930s, is taught, warts n all, they even have a word for it "Vergangungheitsbewältigung " The point being ,to learn from history, how not to repeat it,how to spot the signs of fascism & stamp it down. Why are people ignoring the signs?
