Every complaint I had against Chomsky concerned the same problem: the way he excused or dismissed atrocities committed by his team: ie regimes and forces opposed to Western hegemonic power. As his friend, Epstein was given the same pass. In other words, it's not an anomaly. It's the same story.

It's probably always a mistake for us adults to hero-worship individual other humans but it probably goes back to our chimp/bonobo relations with alpha males/females, later connected? by Freud to transference projections. (To touch or be touched by the alpha conferred / transferred strength)=>2

I feel sick about this. Chomsky says “genocide” is inflated, #meToo is absurd? So many men I once admired are brought to dust. But the loss of women’s privacy in the gender campaigns is brushed aside by the left as well. I wonder what Chomsky would say if asked. I despair of my former idols.

Chomsky was an interesting counterbalance to the typical Western narrative but he obviously had his blindspots - borne, dare I say, of intellectual arrogance. His theory on hardwiring of universal human grammatical ability doesn't seem to have held up too well either

Glenn Greenwald has a similar position in many ways. He often says to his critics "I've never changed my position." If you understand that he is single-mindedly against the US security apparatus, to the exclusion of everything else, you can apply that as a filter to try to understand every statement

Every single journalist that details atrocities and crimes commited by Russia, China, Iran etc. But complies with the d-notice regarding the SAS in Gaza does exactly the same thing, no? Fact that the SAS is on trial for war crimes at the same time as TV programs lionising them is problematic, no?

When I were young, I used to think highly of Noam, but as I got older, I read more about his shitheel shilling for Milosevic et al. It's an unfortunate disease amongst many leftists in the wider West, and one that I as a Yugoslav find disgraceful.
