Rick Johansen @eclecticblue.bsky.social · 14/02/2026I wrote this about The Guardian.eclecticblue.org.ukSad sweet dreamersThe editorial stance of The Guardian newspaper, as well as the opinions of its columnists, is of little relevance to The Great British Public. Certainly not compared to that of the Mail, Sun and the r... 256734
Bill Murray @bill-murray.bsky.social · 14/02/2026You've hit the nail squarely on the head. Sad that the Guardian is happy to pay nepo "journalst" Adrian Chiles for his schoolboy pieces, but has mostly abandoned Labour. 130
Dr Lesley Choucri @lchoucs.bsky.social · 14/02/2026Thankyou for such a clear analysis of what so many of us have seen and felt since Labour and SKS won the election. The hatred is so shocking and previously decent journalists like Pippa Crerar are following the hateful party line. 120
djsedaw.bsky.social @djsedaw.bsky.social · 14/02/2026Totally agree, been thinking the same for so long now 020
MrMirth @mrmirth.bsky.social · 15/02/2026Excellent work!. 👏 Summed up everything I loathe about the Guardian and the rest of them. Your views, are exactly mine, except you have put them all together in a masterpiece. 👍 010
Claire S (UK not USA) @csav55.eurosky.social · 14/02/2026Wow, I agree with your every word, I didn't renew my subscription last year and there are many others on here who agree with you. The relentless sometimes twice daily articles bashing Starmer, usually based on unnamed sources or opinion pieces, whatever it is it's no longer journalism. 0264
Ruth @ruthr1.bsky.social · 15/02/2026This was so good and echoes my own experience and current position almost exactly .. thanks so much ! I have put it out on my own timeline..Earned a follow ! 020
La Reine des Metaphores @metaphorqu.bsky.social · 14/02/2026Thank you for this! Apart from not being a great Blair fan I agree with almost every word. 👏👏👏👏 180
renshawinfo.bsky.social @renshawinfo.bsky.social · 15/02/2026Well said, Rick. I'm of a similar view re the Guardian. For the same reasons, I will not contemplate supporting it. Really can't get my head around the nonsense that increasingly gets published there. 010
BlueSkyBen @benreon.bsky.social · 14/02/2026Absolutely spot on, Rick! Labour are under attack from both sides. The PM’s communications team need to bypass all the legacy media to get their message out without the far right/left spin on it. If Reform get into power it will have been because of the far left voting for fringe parties! 0111
Nicky @haystackgirl.bsky.social · 14/02/2026Really good article but more important, really true. On all counts. 160
Peter Smith @redpeter99.bsky.social · 14/02/2026What a wonderful read. Beautifully sums up my issues with the paper and its journalists. 3190
Reg Wilkins @doleboy.bsky.social · 14/02/2026Tremendous. I stopped subscring ages ago. Im only really interested in the county cricket live reporting now. Tanya Aldred is the last decent journo left. 040
Oddballwoofwoof @oddballwoofwoof.bsky.social · 15/02/2026Echoes my own experience. There was a distinct change in attitude around 2022/23. Headlines became Daily Mail-esqe ad revenue generating rage-bait. Remember being modded for a month for politely pointing out a headline was contradicted by their own article. 010
magnetron21 @markwolves.bsky.social · 15/02/2026As someone who would, under normal circumstances, subscribe to The Guardian, I can't do so at this time....far too much Keir-bashing for me. Mostly totally unjustified. 011
anomander73.bsky.social @anomander73.bsky.social · 14/02/2026Totally agree with you Rick Very well written piece As someone who voted to leave the EU I was banned from commenting BTL years ago as they hated dissenting voices (even tho I was always polite and always stuck to facts) Surely hearing different POVs is how we learn? 110
SloojGud @sloojgud.bsky.social · 14/02/2026Agree absolutely. Privileged, well-off people for whom the loss of public services and social safety nets that a RW government would usher in wouldn't matter very much because they have the means and networks to survive intact. 010
midlander @ukbygaslight.bsky.social · 14/02/2026Brilliant. They’ve done some great campaigns but for a long time the Guardian’s opinions are for & by the well to do far left with no skin in the game. Realpolitik is fine by the Guardian if it’s Lib Dem austerity/cuts but Labour must be unsullied by power. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...theguardian.comA man of grace. Cameron has been good for Britain | Martin KettleMartin Kettle: From Bloody Sunday to the international stage, the prime minister has charmed his friends and disarmed his opponents 3143
Aldous Gray @1015saturdaynight.bsky.social · 14/02/2026I used to subscribe but stopped as it seems to have a visceral dislike of Labour. They have done very little to criticise Reform beyond Farage's school racism After what has happened to journalism in the USA I'm not sure why they continue on a path to Reform Trumpism 030
Hopeful Londoner @hopefulinlondon.bsky.social · 16/02/2026Great piece and extremely refreshing to read! I think you can apply to most of the left-leaning podcasters too. They’re so desperate to bring down this government, but what exactly is their better alternative? 100
Moya Duffy @moyafrances.bsky.social · 18/02/2026Have been astonished at how unsupportive Guardian appears to be.How fantastic to have Cabinet with so many state-educated members. I love John Crace and Pippa Crerar but perhaps it is time to give up my subscription. Can recommend Rock and Roll Politics @steverichards.bsky.social 110
