Memento (spooky) Morty 🌙 @mementomorty.bsky.social · 02/08/2026seeing a journalist downplay the very real and harmful effects of covid on here is breaking my brain for a few different reasons but my solution for that is giving a big Fuck You to anyone who claims we did too much and were too cautious 2156774
Kakistocracy of TERROR! 💀 @crankypacifist.bsky.social · 02/08/2026…did too much…were too cautious…? (dumbfounded, horrified stare) 070
John_Jainschigg @jjainschigg.bsky.social · 02/08/2026Quite right. Covid was a science and communications and social-cohesion and economic engineering test that the United States abjectly failed. Our first global pandemic: a _mild_ one, defeatable, and now we're going to live with the long-term effects for at least three generations. 051
Bob's Fetid Left Toe @init6.bsky.social · 02/08/2026I think it's because it made a lot of men really afraid when it was first starting, which turned into anger, and now is all revisionist history. "I always knew it was xyz, I was never worried" etc. We had the death rate and issues *with* some ppl actually trying ffs, it'd be so much worse otherwise! 010
Flea Dope @fleadope.bsky.social · 02/08/2026Every one of those chucklefucks would have run sobbing or screaming from an ER or ICU. I think HIPPA, and the fact that it was up close and personal, made the reporting terrible during the pandemic, and time has just solidified their deep terror, especially re: the early part (just after delta). 2170
Kat💙 @kat86.bsky.social · 02/08/2026So many of the parents of my students died during Covid. It’s not cool to make light of it. 050
Scarheart Thrymson @thrymson.bsky.social · 02/08/2026I'm curious as to what that school of thought would have been the ideal level of caution. Two million dead? Three? 030
Pedagogy Prodigy @vikinggod.bsky.social · 04/08/2026I’m not saying journalism is dead, but it feels like it’s on life support. 000
justin | Destroy ICE @wcfk.bsky.social · 02/08/2026Even if we accept their premise that lockdowns were worse for children than less cautious alternatives, why do we stop there and not explore *why* some societies had worse experiences with lockdowns than others? Jk i know why 120
Ham Rockwell @hamrockwell.bsky.social · 02/08/2026how do they forget multiple countries running out of morgue space. I can't. 150
Destiny’s Pile @destinyspile.bsky.social · 02/08/2026The first big strike against my faith in America was the 2016 election, the second was seeing Americans respond to Covid. So much selfishness, and so many people ready to capitalize on that selfishness for money and attention. Just grotesque all around. 020
Flock-o'-Lantern @buckrawheat.bsky.social · 02/08/2026we are destined to be forever plagued by assholes who genuinely think the lesson from that one King Solomon story is to cut the baby in half 0183
Erin Marie, Pho2geek @pho2geek.bsky.social · 02/08/2026My immunocompromised butt is alive because of caution. My 80 yr old parents are alive because of caution 0110

daryl "rupert pumpkin" b 🏳️⚧️ @hypercubexl.bsky.social · 02/08/2026they sucked then and they sure as hell suck now. it's more enraging because they won, not just covid but everything, national health is being dismantled, vaccines, real good future science, they got their wildest fucking dreams to kill us all and they still won't shut the fuck up until we all kneel 1548
Elvis-it's a nickname @zolascola.bsky.social · 02/08/2026Thank you. Hospitals were full, & ppl were stacked up on cots in hallways; freezer trucks were in streets being used as morgues bc morgues were full. HCWs put their lives on the line every day. It was a new virus, killing many people. Ppl are still suffering from (& still getting) Long Covid. 080
Ryan Cox @coxitron.com · 02/08/2026Everyone who didn’t get Covid and therefore further stress the healthcare world was fortunate to do at a minimum what was mandated let alone recommended. Fuck those fools 050
sweet summer child @emn0.bsky.social · 02/08/2026That makes me feel insane. My memories of February 2020 are harrowing. There’s no downplaying life inside any hospital treating COVID patients. We did every last thing and we did our very best. 040
