MissHalcyon @misshalcyon.bsky.social · 13/11/2024I'm just gonna say it: You should get passionate about some form of nature. Mushrooms, flowers, trees, birds, reptiles... Pick 1 thing to motivate you to go outside today. To get out, in the yard or forest. There's SO many studies that talk about the mental health benefits of being in nature! 1718920

Caramel Jenkins @carameljenkins.bsky.social · 14/11/2024Agreed, my brother and I both take care of plants at home, and he's become damn near a pro at growing venus fly traps and pitcher plants. 010
Velvet @arbiter-of-fate.bsky.social · 14/11/2024Even if you're not passionate about nature, you could absolutely make a hobby out of hiking or something of the sort 010
Whimsy @whimsicalmayhem.bsky.social · 13/11/2024I started doing this when I got my own place in a rural area. I found flowers that were native to my little portion of the state and found out that, in turn, those flowers were important because they were the preferred food source of an endangered local moth. It's pretty wild once you get into it. 100

Tomas Parant Ledesma @tomasparant.bsky.social · 14/11/2024I have an optional side-quest for my life that goes "Get bitten by a representative of each animal kingdom (mammals, birds, reptiles, etc)". My cat makes sure almost every day that the mammal one is taking care of. Does that count? 000
🔞Ham🍖 @hamoftruth.bsky.social · 13/11/2024I want to keep bees, but we live in an apartment so that wouldn't go over with the city or leasing office 010

Dadbod Underdog @rice2riches.bsky.social · 26/11/2024I did this with our local trees about 10 years ago and it has improved my daily life immensely. So easy to do, and so rewarding. Loving your mushroom posts! 010
MissHalcyon @misshalcyon.bsky.social · 13/11/2024How? - Take your phone, get iNaturalist. The photo is what mine looks like. - Take photos of everything you think that's neat. Flowers, birds, etc - The app will guess its ID. Experts might help - Ask experts what books they use to learn more. Audit a university bio class. There's options! 1132
