Tirrel @tirrel.bsky.social · 05/08/2026To empty the water out of my AC, I have to lift the whole thing up on top of a saucepan, remove the bottom plug and lean it over against me for a min Which was fine when I used it two weeks a year, but now I've had to do this every day for three months. 18591
Taloverae @taloverae.bsky.social · 05/08/2026One of those portable freestanding ac units? Someone’s making it too hot and steamy at your place! 000
Barrett_BearFA @barrettbearfa.bsky.social · 09/08/2026Solution: Get some of those wacky spiral twisty plastic straws, hook one end into the outlet, and the other end to your sink. It'll have to swerve, and twist, and turn like a Hotwheels track, but I think you can make it work. 000
Darziak @darziak.bsky.social · 06/08/2026My parents thought of a solution to that problem when they bought an old AC years ago. Cut a hosepipe, attach a nossle that fits the AC and put the other end of hosepipe into empty milk container. Would have to empty it 1-3 times a day. 000
The Spots of Black @shirblackspots.bsky.social · 06/08/2026You're supposed to leave the water in the pan (assuming window unit), as that helps with the efficiency (water being sprayed onto the condenser by the fan behind it) 000
Drecalen @drecalen.bsky.social · 06/08/2026look around it, there might be a spot you can attach a hose to. its what i did for mine and it goes straight to a drain. 000
Yote @dcyote.bsky.social · 06/08/2026Yeah same. I engineered a length of hose from the output into a 5 gallon bucket, and I have to empty it at least twice a day. 000
Dingy! @theyellingdingo.bsky.social · 06/08/2026Can you use one of those inexpensive fluid transfer pumps that's just a wand and a hose? They're not very expensive at all 000
Seed 🍁🇨🇦 @seedsnep.bsky.social · 05/08/2026Get a condensate pump, AC drain hose into pump, hose from pump out the window. 030
Anga @the-thirstiest-mawile.com · 05/08/2026If it's a mobile unit, my solution to that was to put the unit on top of one of those cheap Ikea Lack tables. Luckily my newer one doesn't need to be manually emptied anymore. 010
Fhyra ☥ 𓃤 ☥ @fhyra.bsky.social · 06/08/2026I'm not apologizing for using your country as a paw rest. 🧡 080
Tempest @notveryathletic.bsky.social · 06/08/2026Think of all those gains from the routine lifting? 120
Size Snep @sizesnep.bsky.social · 05/08/2026Oh, I have an easy fix for this (compared to installing an aquarium pump or something hardwired with a float switch and so on) Milescraft DrillPump750. It's a little water transfer pump you can operate with any power drill. Means you won't have to lift or tilt the unit! 020
ZakuraTech @zakuratech.bsky.social · 05/08/2026Can't put a hose on it and empty into a bucket more locally? 100
