I want more people to look at this portrait I made for myself! Somehow it didn't get much attention when I first posted it, which doesn't sit right with me, because of how much I like how it turned out. It makes me question if I'm bad at identifying, what makes look good. xP

This is a small stylistic experiment. I wanted to emulate the aesthetic of my favorite piece by Adam Styka.

A painting in the style of Adam Styka's "At the water's edge." Multiple anthropomorphic foxes go about their business at a desert oasis, while one in the front is reading a book while smoking a pipe and another young fox stands in the water, seemingly listening to the story read out loud.

I had that idea I wanted to portray. Something that focuses on the textural difference between wet fur out of the water and fur floating in water. Ultimately it didn't turn out quite as I imagine, but I think it was still worth the try!

Zyonji, the anthropomorphic striped hyena, sitting in a pool with pink tinted carbonated water. The pool is also filled with oversized cherries, raspberries and grapefruit. Outside of the pool is a crowd of other anthropomorphic animals socializing.

As this summer is already very hot, I channeled the heat into an experimental painting! I also just really enjoy spending some time to do a finely rendered portrait. (:

I really don't enjoy the heat of summer, so I decided make an autumn princess themed painting! It's definitely time to get ready for Halloween now. c:

Did some Casualties: Unknown drawings after I played the demo for a bit. It's a really stressful game, with steep learning curve, but that also makes it very rewarding to advance!

Four colored drawings of Expies from Causalities: Unknown. From left to right and top to bottom, the first is an Expie sitting similar to the game's intro scene. Then an Expie wearing a foliage sling bag and holding a flimsy knife and emergency light. Then an Expie wearing some clothes and a big backpack, crouched down by a water pool with a manchette in hand. Finally, an Expie wearing a maid uniform and holding a first aid bag.

🪶 ANIMAL 🐾 CAMP 🌹 produces art, writing, and events that unify play with the pursuit of personal and collective growth. We learn and work together to advance our understandings and our praxis.

Two coyote people interact: one at the bottom, cloaked and looking upwards, opens their red-stained hands to the other looming above. Red splatters bridge the two and light their faces.

A white egret spreads its wings and raises its crest in aggression and energy, heightened by the manic red lines contrasting their luminous, pure white form

Abstracted figure in dark blue, black, and rusty red, textural, finger-like radiating lines and swirling red glyphs.

A robed coyote person dynamically strides forward, monstrous forms of toothy mouths and monsters behind them as if they are exercising them from their body.

I need to start a taxonomy/linguistics controversy today! If whales aren't fish, then elephants have hooves. If elephants don't have hooves, then whales are fish. Also, if elephants don't have hooves, then whales do have hooves. I need some scientist to complain to, over definitions here!

I started this painting a couple of weeks ago, but half way through, I got real sick. Endless coughing; couldn't get anything done. I ended up struggling quite hard to finish this painting. I suspect that feeling might have had an impact on the overall mood of this piece.

Zyonji the anthropomorphic striped hyena sitting on an abstract staircase while wearing a muzzle. An orange halo is behind their head and they hold orange fabric to their chest, letting the cloth flow down all the way to the ground.

A grand throne for emptiness. I originally wanted this to be a more simple painting to practice pushing for more extreme poses, but then I enjoyed the composition that much, that I ended up rendering it to a more complete piece.

Zyonji, the anthropomorphic striped hyena, is sitting on a polished throne with a brutalist design. The hyena is lounging on the throne, having one leg rested on an armrest and leaning on the other. Red cloth is draped over the armrest under the the leg and over the other leg. Behind Zyonji's head floats a red halo in the shape of a red triangle and a complex combination of earrings and crown are attached to the ears.

The beauty of a spring cleaning. Portraits are one of my favorite painting formats and I haven't made one for myself in a bit, so I made one once again!

Zyonji the anthropomorphic striped hyena is folding laundry from the clothesline. The scene is set outside on a stone tile floor with grass, moss, and poppies growing from the gaps between the tiles. In the bottom right corner is a white laundry basket containing a folded black cloth and next to it is a red basket filled with clothespins. In the background of the top half of the painting are multiple clotheslines with large fabrics hung up on them with clothespins. The cloths are in various grey and red tones. Zyonji is currently folding a large red cloth, while wearing a black dress with frilly white apron in the style the classic French maid uniform.

📖 REVIEW FOR ART-CONTEST ✍️ Read an Abigail Hilton (@alhilton) book, leave a review in a blog or your preferred soial medium, send me a link, and possibly win some art by yours truly! Contest is open until 30th of November. See alt text for links and detailed descriptions. Appreciate all shares!

RULES

Read an Abigail Hilton (@alhilton) book. Get them directly from the author at https://shop.abigailhilton.com/, or through the usual channels on Audible, Amazon, etc.

Leave a fresh review in a blog or social medium of any language. For legal reasons, I can't accept reviews on commercial sites, but Goodreads, Tumblr, Bsky, Mastodon, VK, Facebook, or what have you, are all good!

Message me (here or on Tumblr @ikrutt) with a link to the review in question. It does not have to be long or fancy, but it has to be a written review. Using AI to generate it will get you booted from the contest - you don't have to stoop that low! Just read and/orlisten a book and write some words.

Each new review is assigned a number (which I'll tell you) which counts as a ticket for the draw. I don't care if you crosspost the review to other sites, still counts individual tickets!

The final draw will be on the 1st of December. I'll assign a number to each review and draw winners tombola style over at random.org

WHY THO??

Because I want people to read Abigail's books and am willing to be your art slave to spread the good word.

Happy reading!
