also. if you're wondering why i might not be giving any actual details about what this one-shot's about (besides the title). hmmmmmm

decent-to-good yuri one-shots are honestly a dime a dozen so you better believe that the ones I've actually added to the media thread have done something special

97. There's No Such Thing as Demons, Dumbass! / この世に悪魔はいねーよバーカ, 10/12 yuri one-shot that showed up in my feed and boy oh boy was it a good one great as just a one-off thing but I'd be extremely down for more. I'm pretty sure this was only the 2nd one-shot by this mangaka too? super impressive

there is so much good here (*especially* the hairstyle) that even just an ok swimsuit design could've made this fantastic but nope, can't do that

i've got some bad news Cole... i don't think either of these are gonna happen (Jojo's b/c i think i'd nope out the first time something bad happens to a dog, HxH b/c it's already my show for when i'm on my rowing machine)

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 13/10/2026

i have not seen any of these though I have heard strong recs for read or die

100

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

i watched the first 2 or 3 episodes years and years ago, might find my way back at some point

110

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

I watched the first season a few years ago and enjoyed it enough but I was admittedly a little bored, not a great show to binge anyways haha

100

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

bumping this b/c I'd like to get suggestions from friends and others following me and not, y'know, random accounts searching for keywords and jumping into my replies

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

maybe this should finally be my excuse to read the Astral Buddy spinoff manga too

110

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

anyways those tweets brought to you by me watching Item, seeing it open with "Index Side Story", and getting mad b/c even just 4 minutes in it is so obvious that the DNA for this show is entirely from Railgun

220

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

science-side Raildex has its fair share of nonsense (usually brought by, ahem, A Certain Teen Boy) but the esper powers are surprisingly well-considered, there's tech (and baseball bats) for the level 0s, it's all.. balanced. which makes it fun! magic-side Raildex is random bullshit go (derogatory)

120

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

"but the Index LNs are better than the anime was! but New Testament is actually good!" sure, and I don't care, Railgun still clears it by a mile

130

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

raildex is so funny because the first half is a really neat sci-fi series and then the second half reminds you it's all technically a spinoff of another series that's complete nonsense

140

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

uma why are you like this

010

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

now that I'm done with cingray + wrapped up summer seasonals (for now), all my friends should once again give me ideas for what to watch next b/c a) this season is barren & b) I got some flights coming up soon and will *definitely* need something to kill the time and also b/c I wanna watch *more*

i'm gonna ugly cry so hard when Star Blossom goes line for line on an IRL race call w/ (MAJOR future StaBlo spoilers) ||"fnxhen va shyy oybbz ntnva ng xlbgb enprpbhefr! fnxhen va shyy oybbz!"|| just full on, i will not function the rest of that day

010

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

knowing the history of Sakura Star O is critical to getting the most out of pretty much the entire Sakura clan storyline/StaBlo but. god it's such a burden too

100

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

ep 21 dropping these lines and IRL horse racing history knowers going "ah......."

010

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

special shoutout to episode 9, easily my favorite episode of the show it's a shame that Chiyono O's career burned too bright and fast for Uma to ever really cover what her Derby win meant to the Sakura clan (even in StaBlo) and even here it's not fully her story but man. man......

100

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

96. Umamusume: Cinderella Gray, 10/11 first part was better than the second & i have reservations about everything to do with ~The Zone~ but that said, Oguri's storyline is just really easy to like, & it intersects with so, so many big names. not quite RTTT/BNE/StaBlo level, but still plenty good

120

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

i don't think this is actually an AI generated background in this anime HOWEVER

000

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

> nose and landing gear of a 787 > winglets of a newer 737NG > front gear pointed the wrong direction w/ shadow > no passenger doors, but two cargo doors (rear interrupts livery??) > weirdly aligned tail stabilizers > what on earth is happening with the engine?? > the rear plane's landing gear???

100

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

what the hell is this AI generated-ass airport background lmao

110

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

95. Grow Up Show, 10/10 it ultimately ended up as "just good" (tho i did quite like the finale), but I'll be grateful for any original anime with strong animation and fun direction. more shows should get a chance to take a swing on such a solid foundation, even if they don't all turn out to be gems

nevermind that the closing scene of Kusuriya LN5 is *also* where a certain feline pharmacist ||zbfg rkcyvpvgyl npxabjyrqtrf ure bja nebnpr-arff|| (something i didn't remember until i reread that scene just now) and uh, yeah there's no avoiding it, it's gonna be rough

000

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

Natsu Hyuga c.2016: [Kusuriya LN5] "Gur pbhegrfnaf unq n fnlvat: bapr lbh xabj vg, vg'f uryy. Ohg gur zra, gbb, unq n fnlvat: gb xabj vg jnf rknpgyl jul gurl jrag gurer." Natsu Hyuga+anime staff c.2026 (maybe): uuhhh ahhh a certain celestial nymph makes us 1 morbillion yen, let's "soften" that part

000

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

me realizing that there's a non-zero chance that not only do we end the first half of this season of Kusuriya with the end of LN5 (and no follow-up from the start of LN6 for 3 months) but it also could be portrayed ||va n ebznagvp yvtug|| when it is very explicitly NOT that in the LN..... big fear

can't say it was the yuri sci-fi novel series I was hoping to see a license announcement for though....

000

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

oh I've read some chapters of the manga adaption of this one, it's not bad

110

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

and then an episode that was just ok (by SuperS standards. so not actually good, but could've been worse), so that pretty easily the best set of episodes yet alas, i fear it will not last

010

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

SuperS tonight was basically two unreservedly good episodes, what a miracle

110

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

i point this out but this episode (140/SuperS 13) was the first episode i liked with basically no reservations, so

000

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

"having a miraculous person that surpasses genders, might be where i can find true, pure girlishness" galaxy-brain gender takes in this episode of SuperS
