if i had to rank the Miyazaki movies i've seen that go hard on the environmentalist themes, i'd prob rank them Nausicaa > Mononoke > Castle in the Sky atm which is wild both because Nausicaa *still* hasn't been usurped from the top spot and somehow Mononoke landed in between the v similar other two

9 episodes in: why must SuperS be Like This

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

i am grateful for the groupwatches i've joined with friends because there's so much media i've been able to experience that i never would have seen otherwise :)

other thoughts: - the Daimon (monster of the week) designs this season sure were something huh - ~the S stands for Spinning~

also i finally counted:

Moon Cosmic Power, Make-Up: 14 clockwise spins, 1 counterclockwise spin
Moon Spiral Heart Attack: 3 clockwise spins, 19 counterclockwise spins
Crisis Make-Up: 2 clockwise spins
Rainbow Moon Heartache: [same as Spiral Heart Attack]

so in an average episode up through Eudial, the baseline is 3 more counterclockwise spins than clockwise spins; and then post-Eudial with Crisis Make-Up added in, the baseline changes to just 1 more counterclockwise spin

i cannot begin to stress enough just how charming this movie was from start to finish. i've always loved the idea of "magic in the mundane" and this film's got that in spades

also shoutouts to the ED which was just so damn pretty to watch every week, really hope s2's can match this

...ok I've put it off too long, media thread update time (in stages though so certain entries don't get swallowed up)

gehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

enoughhhhhhhh of this othering, exclusionary garbage

a post by a fool: "It's like when hetero people use "the asexual audience" to elevate sanitized, sexless portrayals of (let's be frank, mostly queer) romance and then step back and watch the sex-positive and grey/ace posters feud."

had friends visit this past weekend (as some of you may have figured out) and while i have spent today feeling variously sad, lonely, and mostly just exhausted, more than anything else i feel grateful for the friends i've made and the time I've gotten to spend with them

I've held off on really saying anything about this b/c i try to not get involved in discourse nowadays but I've spent the past half day or so totally furious about this so I'm letting myself do so once, as a treat to the people I'm subtweeting with this, sorry, but this has to be said

astounding not only how much the Inept Villainess finale managed to cover but how *good* all of it was there were some parts in there it was really important for the anime to get right and it absolutely nailed them. what a great adaption

is some of this summary uncharitable? yeah probably but like, the format has done itself no favors, the writing has done itself no favors, how after months of this drama with no real resolution are we making the leap to *here*?? it's like bad fanfic

Zubat @zubat.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

ok well, green yuri completely jumped the shark this week so i think i have my answer here lol
