Everyone is low in progesterone. Both men and women need it, especially for hair. But we’re bombarded with its antagonist: estrogens.

I am celebrating the ice storm in Austin by making borscht. My coworker gave me a recipe. I've never had it before, so I don't know how it compares, but I think it's delicious. I don't know why it isn't more red? I wish I could have my Ukrainians over to eat some and tell me how I did.

Huge pot of stew with beets, carrots, cabbage, potatoes, garlic, lamb, tomato, onion, parsley, dill, and lemon juice

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

I wouldn’t give up the experience of her campaign. It taught me a lot about what is “American” by my reckoning, what I identify with, what I like about myself, and what I love about people.

I keep thinking about this and sharing it with individuals I love. It’s a concept that should be taught in basic psychology, parenting or relationship class. It’s about how adults in some cultures criticize each other in a constructive and loving way. (Because we missed that in our culture.)

My sister has a hair test company called Parsley Pet and goes to a lot of trouble to give people everything they will ever need to understand the report. A lot of times people include the abnormal lab values in the initial order questions and she addresses those too.

Wow, when a fiber optic rollout excluded 55 residences at the edge of this town because of the cost, the townspeople dug the trenches and laid the cable themselves. It made it possible for people to work from home instead of move away. reasonstobecheerful.world/etteln-smart...

I wondered what these are. They make me go around when they’re focused on something in my rock path. They’re completely unconcerned I’m there. I have over a dozen different kinds of what I’d call “wasp” here. But at least none are aggressive towards people.

That Kamala interview was heart breaking because it's one of the few times that I've ever seen a national political figure say the system is broken and that trying to work within it to change things probably wont work.

let me throw some fuel on the fire that is the discourse about boys getting laid!!! current-day manopshere content is not good at getting boys laid and that's an effect of the incentives at play. you cannot build an audience of resentful little virgins if you succeed at helping them to have sex

From James Clear's newsletter:

Author and journalist Min Jin Lee on what is important:

"I heard in a sermon once that the definition of self-control was to choose the important over the urgent.

Often, I've wished that I could've had quicker success, greater financial security, more respect, et cetera, as a writer. For nearly twelve years now since leaving the law, I have often felt ashamed for wanting to be a writer and doubtful of my talents.

What helped in these moments was to consider what was important, rather than the urgent feelings of embarrassment and helplessness. What was important is still important now: to learn to write better in order to better complete the vision one holds in one's head and to enjoy the writing, because the work has to be the best part."
