91 garlic cloves planted, covered with a layer of homemade compost, and a layer of home-shredded leaves. Then surrounded with some random janky fence parts to discourage my idiot dog from stomping around in the precious soil.
Same view as picture above but now covered with shredded leaves and surrounded by a blend of random fence parts.

Garlic is going into the ground later than usual this year because I jacked up my back, got super busy at work, and other candyass excuses. But I finished expanding the garlic bed today (3x the space) and will plant tomorrow. Should be fine. Garlic is the easiest fucking thing to grow. I love it.
25-foot longx 3-4 foot wide dirt bed made from rocks and pavers in a janky grassy backyard. A few carrot plants in the bed in the foreground with almost no leaves on them because of a douchebag groundhog.

Some of this year’s Carolina reaper harvest. They literally look scary—like the orange handle on a diner coffee carafe, nature’s way of saying, “Do not eat.” I grow these for fun. I can only use them by processing into “insanity pepper” flakes and adding micrograms to make soup spicy. #hotpepper
Six shriveled, red, ripe Carolina reaper hot peppers with green stems in my left hand. Close crop. Square aspect ratio.

I know you have great lawyers… but be careful you don’t get sued for copyright infringement by Putin’s gas station.
LUKOIL gas station sign with an onion for the O (“Luk” means onion in Russian.) it is possible that the O/onion on the sign is meant to be a drop of oil, but this interpretation literally never occurred to me until I started writing this alt text. So I stand by “it’s an onion.”

Oh, come on. Little cuties.
Looks pretty much like previous photo (see its alt text) but the birds are at 7:00, 9:00, and 11:00. The 7:00 bird has its yellow beak WIDE open (nearly 90-degrees) demanding food from my phone camera. No bare bird skin visible anymore—real feathers cover them all. Greyish with white spots. can still see the wispy white eyebrows on the 7:00 bird.

They are now more or less cute.
The same three baby robins from the previous post, in the same nest, from the same angle. They completely fill the nest and are resting their beak-chins on the rim. One pointed at 9:00, one at like 10:30, and one at 12:00. Definitely some tiny feathers now visible if you zoom in. Orange-y highlights, but mostly dark grey/black.

This is kinda cool. View of Mt. Everest right now from a nearby webcam. I have watched through two reloads. The strings of lights along the ridge move up the ridge, and the stars do their star thing. Pretty sure these are climbers. Link to webcam in post below.

Birb update. Three hideous monsters growning apace… they will potentially be cute in a week or so.
Overhead view of a round dried-grass bird nest containing three baby robins chilling out with their huge, bulging eyes closed, starter beaks, hilarious little wispy “eyebrows,” and proto-feather quill-like things where real feathers will presumably form eventually.

Making decent progress today. Stopping here to make sure the board doesn’t “relax” too much and warp back in the distortion I just removed.
Long poplar board running away from the camera on a workbench. Shims support the not-yet-flat surface—the one in contact with the bench—so it doesn’t deflect when I press down when planing the top surface. Keen observers may notice the scrap blocks and bench dogs used to stop the board from moving around when planing. An extruded aluminum “winding stick” is lying across the board about halfway down its length. Another winding stick is at the far end. You can’t tell from the photo, but the sticks are reasonably close to parallel to one another. When the sticks are parallel when placed at any two points along the length of the board, the top surface is flat.

I discovered Viking Cruise ships have panoramic webcams. Have been occasionally watching the stream from their ship “Polaris” that was at Antarctica this past week. Amazing scenery with good (solstice) lighting. Also, I think I happened to spot a whale and an albatross (see alt text).
Looks to me like a whale spouting backlit by low sun. Snowy mountains in the background. Could just be an iceberg though. Screenshot is a view southeast when the ship was puttering around in the channel north of Lemaire island.Looks to me like a soaring bird following the cruise ship maybe 2 points off the larboard stern, just above the horizon. Parts of the ship are visible on the lower left side of the image along with an antenna in the middle. Screenshot taken when the ship was in the Drake Passage, heading north on the way back to Argentina.

Photo of the 1977-78 entry of the TSR Monster Manual for Shambling Mound. The illustration looks a bit like a wookie maybe. The stat block and first paragraph of the description can probably be read but I don’t have my glasses on and I don’t really care what they say—the joke is that Trump is a literal D&D monster.

Shambling mounds, or "shamblers," are found in dismal marshes or certain wet subterranean places. They are omnivorous, feeding upon any living material (via their weird roots and tendrils). They attack fearlessly, clubbing with their limbs twice per melee round. If both of a shambler's clubbing attacks hit a single opponent, the victim is entangled and will be suffocated in the creature's slime in 2-8 melee rounds unless the creature

I don’t usually add stitches to iron-on patches. But sometimes you gotta go the extra mile. (Though not so far as to match thread colors or do a particularly good job.) This is on a hoodie and has now been through the wash a dozen times without falling apart.
