Did you leave twitter? How much worse would it have been for everyone if you had stayed? New paper w/ Jörg Gross (out today in @nathumbehav.nature.com) shows that selfish *and* prosocial actors distort the social impact of their actions, with selfish-serving distortions showing greater contagion.

New paper in Nature Communications 🧠 Rapid Changes in Risk Attitudes Originate from Bayesian Inference on Parietal Magnitude Representations. Why the same person can flip between a safe bet and a gamble, and what parietal cortex has to do with it. 🧵 www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Rapid changes in risk attitudes originate from Bayesian inference on parietal magnitude representations - Nature Communications
Risk attitudes can shift across contexts and even between identical choices. Here, the authors show that as parietal payoff representations grow noisier, the brain leans more on prior beliefs, biasing...

Autism has long been linked to difficulties with Theory of Mind. But what exactly is driving these differences? And what happens in the brain? In our new preprint, we show that adaptive mentalization might be key. A 🧵 #CogSci #CogNeuro osf.io/preprints/ps...
Repeated Rock-Paper-Scissors task used to study adaptive mentalization, alongside a schematic showing increasingly sophisticated reasoning strategies, from responding to past actions to trying to guess the opponent’s prediction about one’s own next action
