It says a lot about Vanya and Astarion’s relationship that there’s no timeline where their marriage is sustainable

#tavqotd #VanyaAncunín🫀🔱 In a brighter timeline where Astarion never ascended and he and Vanya were married and divorced at least three times, Vanya was briefly married to Minsc. It was between the second and third marriage to Astarion so everyone knew it was doomed

It’s a dark cloud that looms over them and their family. Vanya is more aware of it than Astarion, who acts like he’s a “better” man now that he has the wealth and power to hurt others the way he was hurt in the past. Whether he admits it or not, he knows he’s become a monster

The spawn try to be on their best behavior when Vanya isn’t around. Because if Vanya isn’t trailing behind Astarion, she’s probably in the Red Room. If they annoy Astarion while Vanya is in the Red Room they’ll wind up in there with her

000

Zizi | Bloodtrident Nation 🩸🔱 @ziziphoenix.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

What’s the Red Room, you ask? What was once the Boudoir is the only part of the palace that hasn’t been redone because Astarion refuses to enter. Vanya goes there when she feels the Urge coming on so she doesn’t attack Astarion or one of her children again

The publication of Vic’s account of the Absolute crisis caused a divide amongst the Baldurian public, and for decades people have debated on whose account is the truth (the correct answer is both and neither. Both authors had their own biases and took their own artistic liberties)

000

Zizi | Bloodtrident Nation 🩸🔱 @ziziphoenix.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

Her second book was about her, Wyll, and Karlach’s adventure in Avernus, in which they fixed Karlach’s heart, slayed the wicked cambion Mizora, and even took on the archdevil Zariel herself.

100

Zizi | Bloodtrident Nation 🩸🔱 @ziziphoenix.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

So she wrote her own book about her daring adventure fighting against the Absolute and freeing herself from Raphael Her portrayal of Astarion was particularly unflattering (useless coward that rode her poor sister’s coattails and gave her ringworm) She blatantly left out any mention of Volo

100

Zizi | Bloodtrident Nation 🩸🔱 @ziziphoenix.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

And for another, Vic was portrayed as an overly aggressive shrew who was so ungrateful for the new eye Volo gave her (after his back-alley lobotomy) and who tried to get in the way of an ✨epic love story✨ (aka tried to protect her sister from Astarion and his nonsense)

110

Zizi | Bloodtrident Nation 🩸🔱 @ziziphoenix.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

Fun fact about Vic: Following Volo’s bestselling book about the Hero of Baldur’s Gate (Vanya), she wrote a different book bc she didn’t like how she was portrayed. For one, Vanya was only designated leader in the beginning bc she’s a Paladin. She didn’t like being leader and asked Vic to take over

What the "no uncomfortable media ever" folks don't seem to want to acknowledge is that for some of us, stories depicting violence and suffering are about feeling seen as fellow survivors, and (in most stories) also seeing that these things can be overcome, even if they can't be eradicated.
