Raider Kid and the Ruby Chest beat! Such a cute and well made microvania Super cute GBC aesthetic, great map, many secret passages, decent amount of items and power ups (one of which surprised me), fun bosses, and a pretty great final boss Packs a ton in less than two hours. Loved my time with it

Beat Gobble Carried hard by its visuals and music which are both top notch. Character designs are really fun as well. Everything else? Eh It has the potential to be good, if it was longer or paced better. But it is over pretty much when the game starts demanding anything from the player

100%'d Well Dweller What a stunning metroidvania It occupies the sweet spot of fun and accessible while putting up a little bit of a challenge (some of the time trials, and later bosses). Constantly engaging and charming with great exploration and gorgeous environments One of my faves this year

Isle of Reveries updated with a bonus dungeon that was originally cut. Was a nice little thing. And has a permanent upgrade at the end similar to like the Color Dungeon in Link’s Awakening (text removed from the screenshot as to what the upgrade actually is though since it just released)

Friend took me out for a belated birthday lunch at a cute little Japanese restaurant The teriyaki steak (which they cooked how I requested surprisingly), the tamago, and chicken with green onion skewers were so good. Wished the chicken heart was better which was the only all right thing

Playing Well Dweller and some of these trials have pretty strict timing/require extremely minimal fuck ups. This one had a 23 second limit. They are really fun though for the handful I’ve found on the map though.

Tearscape 100% beat! Blend of ideas from Souls combat, Metroidvania map design progression, Zelda lock & key dungeons wrapped in a grim Game Boy Color aesthetic. It mostly works. Decent exploration and puzzles. Fun boss fights. But a couple rough areas and enemy variety hold it back.

Isle of Reveries 100% beat! Fantastic game that really understands the genre and feels like a direct continuation of the ideas laid out in the Oracle of Ages/Seasons games. And as such, it definitely skews a bit harder in its dungeons and over world navigation. Loved my time with it
