I think there are different branches, imo. There is a lot of genuine puritanism going on but your argument is that it's not *all* puritanism. That sometimes, we want to see good guys win and bad guys lose bc... that's pretty common! Possibly even moreso nowadays, due to current political climates.

Then don't. No one's forcing you. I'm just saying this is the way things are currently, and you can't *not* give things a try just because software is often ephemeral. That's a bit like saying "why live if I'm just gonna die?". It's about doing the best with what you're given.
