Honestly, at this point I'm just encouraging healthy group dynamics.

Dommy Mommy: As an action you may “encourage” one of your teammates to perform better. This may be done with any teammate with whom you currently have at least one-way verbal communication—they need to hear you, you don’t need to hear them. When encouraging, choose one of the two following options.
Comfort: Give an ally +1 to any dice assigned to the Cool Table, as you calmly encourage them to do their best and make you proud.
Chastise: Give an ally +1 to dice assigned to the Success Table, and −1 to the Cool Table, as you make it very clear just what will happen if they fail to meet your expectations.

So not even a movie I saw, but the small local video store had a Return of the Living Dead 3 poster hanging on the wall that was very unsettling to my young mind. Anyway that probably explains the intense interest in body modification and monster women I developed later in life.

Friendly reminded that toned page backgrounds are easier on the eyes, but can also make software accessibility tools not work. Not saying don't use page backgrounds, just that plane text white is better than plane text on a toned page.

Random thought I had while watching the music video for Modern Rocketry's "Homosexuality."

I just had an interestingly unpleasant thought. When I see a man with his arm lovingly around another man's waist, my brain recognizes "Ah yes, that's like me and my partner." And obviously homophobes don't experience that realization, but what if it's not because they can't recognize a relatable scenario when it's two men, but because the scenario isn't relatable?

What if they're not looking at gay couples and confusedly asking "Who's the man and who's the woman?" but rather "Who entered into he relationship due to extreme social pressure and who goes out drinking with their coworkers to avoid going home after work?" They can't see themselves reflected in an affectionate relationship between two men because their relationship is a miserable formal arrangement.

And now I want to do a study to see if straight people are actually more accepting of age-gap same-sex relationships, because they perceive a power imbalance that they can relate to in their own relationships.

This post isn't specifically about the Harry Potter fandom, but it very much does apply.

I genuinely wonder what modern pop culture looks like to children. Like, how does everything being based on existing IPs affect their understanding of creation? Do they understand that The Avengers hasn't always existed? Do they just assume that every piece of media belongs to the canon of an existing franchise?

And perhaps more importantly, how is being conditioned from such a young age to be so dependent on familiarity going to affect their ability to interact with new ideas later in life? Are they just going to shut down anytime they're presented with anything unfamiliar or challenging to their experience? How is that dependence on familiarity going to be exploited by corporations and politicians?

We're already seeing weaponization of nostalgia, and it's terrifying to thing how much stronger that's going to be on a generation raised from birth to form their identity around brands.

So just bringing this up again. Basically they claimed that this was to cut down on AI-written books, because as we all know, as a human writer it's very easy to make more than $100 a year from your single self-published book, and AI scammers could never manage that feat publishing two books a day.
