Inspired by/modifying @vgel.me's claudemojis (a staple among my token-maxxing friends), I made jail-claude, hopefully never to be used again Making it was so fun I'm moved to start drawing more digital art!

In Sacramento for the California Labor pre-primary convention—seems like a very different kind of organized chaos from the DFL conventions of my youth

Reporting in the Star Tribune this very week contradicts this guy. Current immigration detention is not bound by the law, and does not meet the basic obligations to provide food, shelter, and medical care. You cannot avoid holocaust analogies forever, else what was the point of learning from it?

It's incredible to see such an explicit acknowledgement of the decision forced by effective civil resistance by the very people it's trying to pressure. They hate that their hand is forced, but now even some Rs want ICE out. There's no better sign that resistance works.
Rep Nolan West:
Let's be honest here. Governor Walz and Mayor Frey are incapable of stopping the mob even if they wanted to.
With that in mind, there are two options.
The first: The federal government enacts a level of violence that we haven't seen in over a century to restore order.
The second: The federal government ends
Operation "Metro Surge" and allows the pent-up fury to dissipate.
I don't even see that as a choice.
Regardless of the rule of law or enforcing immigration law, I care about the actual human beings involved. It's clear that Operation "Metro Surge" is causing more harm than good. It puts law enforcement officers' lives at risk and it feeds the chaos destroying our state.
Yes, our state is crumbling because those leaders refused to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement, but the fact remains: this must end.

I know it isn't worth my time to treat NYT opinion columnists like coherent thinkers, but it's just so galling to watch filibuster-supporter David Brooks insist that Democrats trying to win the bipartisan concessions he so fetishizes are the real problem with our democracy

People saying stuff like this are cranks, and almost as far outside the scientific mainstream as climate deniers Under the SSP2-4.5 "middle road" scenario (which imo is a bit pessimistic) we expect warming of 1.4-3 deg C by 2100 (IPCC AR6) Corresponding sea level rise of less than a meter

In fact, the research group cited in the article--Opportunity Insights--elsewhere conclude that standardized tests are less biased against low-income students than almost any other aspect of "holistic admissions"

It's bad that housing is so expensive in Blue states, and the results from redistricting will mildly hurt Democrats. But the Electoral College dooming is seriously overblown. Only one election since 1948--Bush v Gore--was decided by an Electoral Vote margin close enough for redistricting to matter.

Learned a lesson today about getting off my ass sooner and taking action. By the time I got to Lake and Bloomington the vans had already rolled off (and KSTP was setting up). Won't make that mistake again!

While Angie Craig put up a huge margin in 2024, the history is more mixed on her strength as a candidate. This year she out performed Harris by 7.7%, but it was the first year she beat the top of the ticket (it's worth noting that 3rd parties consistently dragged down her vote share)

All of the model variables were highly correlated precinct-by-precinct, as you can see below, so it would be a lot of work to do any kind of inference the specific relationships between demographic variables and mayoral candidates.

At long last, a complete model of the mayoral results from the 2025 Minneapolis DFL Precinct Caucus!

I aggregated the replies to @wedge.live and other delegate counts I could find from last night's Minneapolis DFL precinct caucuses. It's hard to draw any conclusions, since the sample is far from representative. We have results from 35% of precincts, with nearly all reports from Wards 1-3 and 7-12.
Precinct caucus results by committed candidate:
Total Delegates - 327
Frey - 84
Davis - 14
Koski - 11
Fateh - 72
Jazz - 2
Uncommitted - 146

Percentages
Frey - 26%
Davis - 4%
Koski - 3%
Fateh - 22%
Jazz - 1%
Uncommitted - 45%
