he hit me with: there were people who survived the dictatorship and slavery, what kind of cowardice is this?

Anyone that says a twitch streamer is their #1 priority, and not going after the fascist Trump administration that holds all the real power and is enacting policies that negatively impact everyone, should not be part of an "opposition" party. They won't give the working class an inch.

It takes you 20 paragraphs to get to the part of the article where they admit that Mamdani isn't paying the influencers and the reason they are posting videos of the stuff Mamdani is doing is because people are interested in watching it.
The mayor’s office says that it does not pay the influencers. Still, their proximity and access to a figure as popular as Mr. Mamdani can help increase their own social media following and, by extension, potentially put them in a position to attract paid content sponsorships from commercial brands. Some influencers said that when they feature Mr. Mamdani, the videos get more likes and viewers watch longer.

Here's the same chart as the OP but excluding hardware and accessories just to focus on software and subscriptions. Same overall trend with the average annual revenue per PlayStation active user increasing by 65% between FY18 and FY25, reaching 27,233 Yen / around $170.
Same as OP but without hardware and accessories.

FY19 includes through to March 2020, with Covid leading to a boost in active users. Main drivers here are the transition to higher PS+ tiers, higher spending on game software and DLC / MTX, higher prices for hardware etc. This chart will explain the software side where spending has exploded.

I did the math on this and average annual revenue per PlayStation active user has grown from 23,580 Yen in FY2018 to 37,485 Yen in FY2025, which is around $230. An increase of 59% over that period. Although growth was flat over the past year or two.

It always reminds me of that video of a guy being violently arrested at an airport who yells "you’re treating me like a f-ing black person" They very much understand who the system is "meant to punish" and their racism justifies it as correct, which is why they are so shocked when it turns on them.

It's also worth noting that these centrist Democrats have not called out Laura Loomer (Trump's right hand woman) for her comments against progressive Democrat Angie Nixon. Jeffries rushed to defend a Republican bigot like Randy Fine though. It really says a lot about where their priorities are.

In case it wasn't clear, here is economist Francisco Rodríguez saying that this "deal" will only generate tax value for Venezuela that represents 4.7% of the sale price. That's less than half the royalty rate it received when US friendly dictator (Juan Vicente Gómez) sold out to US oil companies.
Text reads: President: according to your figures, this agreement will generate tax revenues of just $3.22 per barrel of Venezuelan oil. This represents 4.7% of the current price, and less than half of the royalty rate contemplated in concessions granted by Juan Vicente Gómez.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - An argument over the theories of 18th century philosopher Immanuel Kant ended in a man being shot in a grocery store in southern Russia.
RIA news agency quoted police in the city of Rostov-on-Don as saying a fight broke out between two men as they argued over Kant, the German author ofiCritique of Pure Reason", without giving details of their debate.

Interesting piece from @tparsi.bsky.social on how traditional US allies, while hardly being fans of Iran, are more afraid of the US and glad that Iran has been able to thwart their war ambitions somewhat. "What we are seeing is a world yearning for balance." tritaparsi.substack.com/p/why-so-man...
As one official from a traditional American ally told me: “Had it not been for the resilience of the Iranians, Trump would likely have attacked Cuba by now and perhaps even annexed Greenland.”

It is important to understand that these sentiments have little to do with Iran. I have detected little sympathy for the Islamic Republic at the government level, although the situation appears different among general public. Rather, these sentiments are rooted in naked self-interest.

Karl Marx in 1870.
And most important of all! Every industrial and
commercial centre in England now possesses a
working class divided into two hostile camps,
English proletarians and Irish proletarians. The
ordinary English worker hates the Irish worker as a
competitor who lowers his standard of life. In
relation to the Irish worker he regards himself as a
member of the ruling nation and consequently he
becomes a tool of the English aristocrats and
capitalists against Ireland, thus strengthening their
domination over himself. He cherishes religious,
social, and national prejudices against the Irish
worker. His attitude towards him is much the same
as that of the "poor whites" to the Negroes in the
former slave states of the U.S.A. The Irishman pays
him back with interest in his own money. He sees in
the English worker both the accomplice and the
stupid tool of the English rulers in Ireland.
This antagonism is artificially kept alive and
intensified by the press, the pulpit, the comic
papers, in short, by all the means at the disposal of
the ruling classes. This antagonism is the secret of
the impotence of the English working class,
despite its organisation. It is the secret by which the
capitalist class maintains its power. And the latter is
quite aware of this.

Asian and Muslim communities have been told to wash their rice and feet less in a water-saving push.

Ofwat, the water industry regulator, has been criticised for funding “bizarre” guidance targeting ethnic minority households.

It used £270,000 of billpayers’ money for a research initiative that used a celebrity chef to teach Southeast Asians how to cook and wash rice with less water.

As an aside, Kuaishou isn't a gaming company. They're a short video company like TikTok (Douyin). They recently got into the game development scene in a similar way that TikTok did through acquisitions. But TikTok is too mainstream, I go to Kuaishou to see the real China.
