I like programming things. And I laugh way too hard at tech related memes. #unisonlang, #elixirlang and everything else.

My mind really works well with outliners(org-mode/LogSeq things), but I do think the UX isn't as intuitive for other people. But it's also such a nice balance between freeform and structure.

Like I'm not going to a writer's club thinking they must generally have good vibes of LLMs, its making it harder what already was a hard field to succeed in. And for the subsection that does think that LLMs are a force of good it's being drowned out by whatever else is going on in life.

As for that report, it's slop, but I'm also not sure why somebody would waste tokens on a whole ass booklet graphing out the what of an anti-LLM sentimient of a community that's focused on the small, """craft"""work of computing. Like what did they expect to happen?

That tag was always a clusterfuck, I'm glad they are taking measures and it'll be interesting to see how it goes. I'd much rather go touch grass than go look at HN.

Chat interfaces as I know them now end up annoying me for medium to large messages. It's bad UX imo outside of..well short text chatting apps. They are an interesting view of a database though. Semi-related interesting article that also offers an UX insight structural.chat/articles/bey...

I gave a talk at EMF titled "Men in Tech #YesAllMen", in which I told my experience of being a woman in tech. I was afraid to publish it in case it affected my current or future employment. With all the current news I would like to add my 2¢. So here is the recording: youtu.be/WXL6K1lhvt0?...

The way I saw and still see it, blacksky did and does so much to push ATProto ahead(in the right ways!!) that reading your post isn't even surprising to me. In the end it's not a competition yea, but the values and focus, oof blacksky hits harder.

I feel like that's too cynical, was it mostly a solo mission? There is a balance between exploration, productivity and finding joy in the work one has to do. A great working environment can help with this so much.

The tech hype cycle is a corporation declaring a thing that is not as if it is, the media repeating and amplifying the thing that isn't as if it is instead of naming what it is, and then the consumers repeating and amplifying the media's parroting of the thing that isn't as if it is.

No, it's not easy. I've done this with Biome (from Rome). I wasn't alone, a team was there to help me. It took us months. We had to rebuild a new identity. I couldn't have done it alone. I'm glad I found people that believed in the mission and helped to create a new community.

Though WASM does solve it more elegantly. The church of WASM runtimes/build tooling /crappy compile errors with WASM makes me think it's not going to be as smooth of a ride as I'd like.

Ah yes, there is a lot of funkyness that comes with that, I did like one of them: OCaml to JS(bucklescript). I never saw that as a "web standard", but people just really needing something not-JS for big ass apps.

zetashift @zetashift.eurosky.social · 09/10/2026
Er, I'm having trouble understanding this one, do you consistently see bad web standards popping up? And I'm also curious on what accidental complexity you're referring to. Not trying to say there isn't any there, but...rare case is quite out there.

When I saw the title and elm popup I was hyped for some cool compiler design and left somewhat confused by thing, that's newtypes/opaque types(how Scala calls them). Really cool type feature but would not title it like that.

Ofcourse it's not their responsibility to do anything about it, but then because of that it also rings like shallow critcism. Like wrt tech it's really easy to opt-out of that noise, because more code/tech does not mean better social guarantees. (sorry for the dump, book is on the list!)

almost every piece of software is pivoting to enable it. Maybe there are places where people mix LLM/genai, creator content, sustainability well together, but that place certainly isn't gonna be bluesky where a significant part is like "LLMs are bad, but I do it right, so it's okay".

One thing that annoys me when a person that makes that point, is that it's not anything remotely actionable. Yea the people that are on *sky are most likely not into that form of capitalism, so then what? How do I help realize that better future? Using/paying $BIG_CORP isn't an option, and..

Ohhhhhh, I've spent a nontrivial amount thinking about whiteboard/canvas interfaces, and the hardest part is making it sustainable so one can keep working on it lol. I agree that it has more potential tho! Code as diagrams(and vice-versa) alone seems like an interesting avenue.

Especially for immutable variables...like why should that be the special cased one and not the mutable ones. (More recent languages only, history etc etc)

Ah right, that definitely is relatable. I ended up significantly relying on langservers because even on other editors they were flaky for me. And some other CLI tools make needing plugins a lot less immediate. But "integrated" really can mean janky stuff in kakoune depending on the language.

Scolding people who have the same goal of using tech responsibly is a major L. But when it comes to impact and causing change, I'd say that the tech community hasn't done really better throughout time to improve the relationship/dependence people have with tech.
