Presenting a new mini: a Fungus Hag for a recent D&D game I played in! (Somehow, we skipped fighting her…) The design reminded me of an Inky Cap mushroom, so I decided to base her color palette on one, focusing on monochromes tinged in brown. Model by Witchsong Miniatures. #minipainting #dnd

Painted mini of a Fungus Hag. For her cloak, I started with an off-white, with plans to drybrush a true white on top. However, I was worried the difference in color wouldn’t show up well, so I used a brown shade instead. I did the sleeves in grey and the back of her dress in white, both with the same brown shade. For the front, I used black and off-black.

Painted mini of a Fungus Hag. When I printed this, there were some technical difficulties… the rear half of her cap partially failed, and several drips had broken off. Luckily, the family craft expert (aka mom) helped to repair the damaged top of the cap. Afterward, I reapplied the edge goo with resin, and created new drippings with resin-coated hairs. Fixing this thing was a labor of love…

Painted mini of a Fungus Hag. When I showed this mini to my DM, I had originally done the staff in off-white. He was concerned that the staff blended in with her arm, and after a second look, I agreed. I redid the staff to match the wood on the base, and then I painted the top to have a yellow glow. While I like how it turned out, I can’t help but feel I made the top look like the Statue of Liberty’s torch…

I recently realized I never posted this! A while back, I was trying to practice drawing in the style of #HollowKnight , so I practiced drawing various enemies from #Silksong ! I was hoping to use this practice to design a version of my ‘sona for the Hollow-verse.

Went to a used bookstore today, and they had recently gotten a massive collection of old #dnd books! I found two 3rd edition books I’ve wanted for some time! One is about oceanic adventures, and the other is about arctic adventures! Now if I can find the desert book, I’ll have my dream trio!

A pair of old Dungeons and Dragons books from 3e/3.5e. The books are “Stormwrack: Mastering the Perils of Wind and Wave” and “Frostburn: Mastering the Perils of Ice and Snow”.

#artfight attack #1: Presenting Oppy, an Animal Crossing OC from @sofnas.pmd.social ! Seeing as it will be this space-themed rabbit’s birthday this month, I drew him finding his own Zodiac Star Fragment: a Cancer Fragment!

While researching, I learned there are rare Zodiac Star Fragments. Upon learning this, I decided to use a Cancer Fragment to go with Oppy’s July 17 birthday!
I had fun with this drawing, and I’m particularly fond of the colors! From the warm pink glow of the Fragment, to the deep blues of his hoodie, this was a great start to this year’s ArtFight!

Before beginning ArtFight, I’d like to introduce a new OC! This is Sulfur, an original Gem for the series #StevenUniverse ! Sulfurs were made to be the Chemists of the Gem Empire, formulating various compounds and substances for use by other gems.

Reference sheet for Sulfur a Gem OC based on the series “Steven Universe”.

Sulfurs are an uncommon Gem, created for scientific work on Homeworld and other colonies. Most Sulfurs serve as chemists, formulating various compounds and substances for use by other gems, including those used in Injector machines.

Presenting my latest mini: a Sheep Dragon from @obojima.bsky.social ! Despite their name, these creatures are not true dragons, but more magical beasts with dog-like intelligence. Known for their luscious wool and protective nature, they are often used as a symbol of peace in villages. #minipainting

Painted mini of a Sheep Dragon from “Obojima: Tales from the Tall Grass”. To get the colors on the head, I started with a light pink and coated it with a grey contrast. After darkening it with some black shade, I think I got pretty close to the grey in the book!

Then I dry-brushed the wool with white, and coated it with a light brown wash. After everything dried, I did an extra coat of dry-brushed white to return the neutral color.

Painted mini of a Sheep Dragon from “Obojima: Tales from the Tall Grass”. For the base, I printed a large sized base, and coated it with some textured brown for dirt. I followed it up with a coat of lighter brown, and a coat of brown shade. I also dry brushed some green to give it some extra color. I used a light blue on the rim to mimic the sky blue cover of the book. Once the paint dried, I spread some glue and sprinkled on some static grass. To make the grass stand up, I took a balloon, rubbed it in my hair, and held it over the grass. This pulled the grass upwards making it look a bit more natural.

My understanding is that they are technically Weasels. I have read they are based on a yokai called the Kamaitachi. They are weasel-like creatures that move with the wind, inflicting cuts upon travelers.

At least your Splatsona’s aesthetic has evolved smoothly! Mine has been all over the place! It wasn’t until Splatoon 2 that I finally drew my Inksona. The Splatoon 1 art I have here was made by the Miiverse artist, Splatterai!

Presenting a pair of #Fakemon I designed for FroopyArt’s “Pokémon Eclipse: Calamity Caverns” on YouTube! Meet Scorpurr (Poison) and its evolution, Wardpion (Poison/Psychic) These two were inspired by the Scorpion Men in the “Epic of Gilgamesh”, as well as the Scorpileo from “Amphibia”.

Evolves via Level Up with High Friendship

The front half resembles a panther cub with large yellow eyes, and small blue nubs on the tops of its paws. It also sports a second set of smaller eyes beside the main ones. The back half resembles a scorpion, bearing exoskeleton legs and a cat’s tail ending in a stinger. This particular specimen has a rock under its paw, a charge it keeps safe.

Scorpurr are known to be highly observant and cautious. When a Scorpurr is old enough to battle, they select an object to keep with them and guard it with all they have. For their charge, many choose a special rock, stick, or plaything. Scorpurr will train by trying to snatch each other’s charge while keeping their own safe. This peculiar form of play helps them prepare for evolution, when they will decide upon a much more important charge to protect.

Inspiration:
Scorpion Men from the Epic of Gilgamesh: Guardians of the gates to the Underworld, they were said to have skills in analyzing others. (also from adaptations of these creatures from D&D/Pathfinder)

New Ability: Vigilant – When in a double battle, the Pokémon with this ability will intercept widespread attacks like Razor Leaf and Surf, causing allied Pokémon to take half damage from the attack. The Pokémon with this ability cannot dodge these kinds of moves.

Wardpion resembles a centaur with a feline upper half and a scorpion-like lower half. The upper half resembles an anthropomorphic panther with deep black neck scruff and reddish forearms. It has two main eyes with two smaller ones in between. Its mouth resembles a panther’s, but has a pair of small mandibles on the edges. Its arms each have a small blue stinger at the wrist, filled with a strong venom. The lower half of this Pokémon appears to be a four-legged Scorpion with a cat’s tail ending in a stinger. The arachnid legs have fur on the upper half, and a mane of black hair flows down its back.

When a Scorpurr finds a charge worthy of its care, it will evolve into Wardpion in order to protect it. Some will take care of important locations or sacred artifacts, while others will dedicate themselves to their trainer or other allies. This desire to keep its charge safe has unlocked its latent psychic abilities, giving it enhanced perception. In battle, Wardpion focuses primarily on defense, protecting their allies first. Wardpion will strike with the stingers on its arms and tail, using its heightened awareness to anticipate its opponents’ next moves. Powerful specimens have learned to use their psychic abilities to form spears out of condensed venom, similarly to how some Lucario can form a staff from their fighting-type aura.

Presenting my half of an Art Trade with @electrafirefly.bsky.social ! I drew Orville, an Octoling from Electra’s “Soarin’ Squids” comics! He recently developed the ability to turn his arms into tentacles, so I decided to draw him practicing an ARMS-styled spring punch! I hope you like it!

In Electra’s comics, he recently developed the power to turn his arms into long, stretchy tentacles. On the fist he is punching with, he is wearing a Splat Gauntlet, a weapon similar to a boxing glove with a stamp pad. (I came up with it a while back, before the introduction of the Splatana.)

According to legend, these horse-like creatures appear to travelers near water. They offer to ferry them across rivers or lakes, but instead drown them as they pass into the waters. This one appears to be a pastel green, covered in translucent green seaweed. Its eyes glow yellow, as do a a number of kelp bubbles in its mane and tail.

Seeing as its mane is supposed to be made of seaweed, I decided to print this one out of translucent green resin. I then primed specifically over the skin, feet, and glowing spots on the mane. Anywhere the primer ended up where it should not have was hit with some green paint to help it blend in.
For the base, I found a 1x2 plate in Thingiverse, and I covered it with gritty brown paint.i left one spot open, and painted it to look like a puddle in the mud. I gave it some resin on top to look watery.

I noticed in the design, there were what looked like individual leaves in the seaweed mane. Instead of just leaving them as leaves, I decided to paint them to look like the bubbles found in real-life kelp. I also took inspiration from the glowing Creepvine plants in Subnautica.

Presenting a new Painted Mini: a Sucrooze! This dangerous(ly sweet and sticky) blob of molten candy comes from the Revalia, a cursed carnival in “Heckna” by @hitpointpress.bsky.social . This monster was fun to paint! So many little candy details stuck in side, among other things…

Painted miniature of a Sucrooze from “Heckna”. I tried to paint this ooze to resemble the imagery from the books, going with a shiny magenta color. I wanted to make some of the gooey tips stand out, so I made them fluorescent pink.
I was thinking of making more Sucrooze minis later on, using different colors to make each one a different ‘flavor’!

Drawing of my concept for a Mega Giratina (Origin Form). Its tendrils have expanded into three claws at each end, and its horns have grown additional curves and barbs. Its patterns have grown jagged and sharp, and an extra set of tendrils have sprouted from its tail. In this form, it has adapted to dragging its foes into the Distortion World, guaranteeing a home-field advantage.

His ball is now formed from a giant skull, and his head has been replaced with a tiny brain. He moves down a dark corridor, with a planet visible outside a window.

Presenting a (severely belated) drawing for #brushweek2025 Day 1: Cosmic Brush! I took my original creature, the Mapwing, and changed its patterns to resemble solar system maps! This was a fun exercise!

Cosmic Redesign of my original creature: the Mapwing. Unlike its traditional kin, this rare variant is capable of interstellar flight. Its patterns have changed to resemble maps of star systems, showing planets, orbital trails, and even comets! They still possess the innate desire to congregate at locations of note, often appearing near system boundaries or important planetoids. Their disorienting screech has adapted to disrupt sensors on spacecraft, making them dangerous to approach.

Painted miniature of Nomi, the Quaking Earth. This Kaiju resembles an enormous beetle, sharing traits of both male and female kabuto beetles. The mini is posed flying over ruins as it sprays a gout of corrosive acid.

WIP of a minature North Pole from the Dragon Trappers Lodge. I’m really happy with how it’s come out so far! However, I’m struggling to figure out how to paint letters on to the arrow signs… How else will adventurers find their way to Santa’s Workshop!?! #minipainting #wip

In-progress North Pole in Miniature scale. I’m glad the modeler thought to make the stripes on the pole 3D. Made it much easier to paint. How if I could just figure out how to put letters on the sign…

It’s finished! I took this unfinished lead-based dwarf mini my dad started painting long ago, and I finished painting it! I tried to stick to the original color scheme, while adding some new details. I showed him to my dad, & he loves it! I’m glad I could carry on a family tradition! #minipainting

He said he never got around to finishing it, so I decided to pick up where he left off! One of my favorite additions was using blue shade to give the sword a magical upgrade feel.

I have an exciting project I’m starting! A while back, my dad showed me a lead mini from when he played #dnd in 2nd edition. He used to paint minis too, but he never finished this one. Seeing as I’ve taken up the craft, I decided (with his permission) to finish what he started! #minipainting

Partially painted mini from my father. He told me this was a dwarf. With his permission, I plan to finish painting it! Carefully, of course. It is made of lead…

Bottom side of the mini. It appears to be a Ral Partha Miniature from 1979 (if I’m reading the bottom correctly). If anyone out there can help identify where this mini came from, I would appreciate it! I’ve been searching online, and I can’t find a match.

Presenting a mini I painted recently: King Blrrk, a sentient Gelatinous Cube crime lord created by @hitpointpress.bsky.social ! This guy was a lot of fun to paint! He’s so goofy yet intimidating! I look forward to the day my players are a high enough level to fight him!

And to give the pseudopods some pop, I painted a fluorescent green paint underneath him before gluing to the base.

I wanted it to have a look of old velvet that has been sitting there and slowly matting down. I was planning on adding shading, but I think the flat coloring helps the ooze stand out more.

As for the crown, I used a fluorescent green paint to make it seem like it’s just slightly rising out of the top of his body.
