The white people enrolled in Medicare who support the Republicans know they’re deserving of it, unlike those [redacted racial slur].

Well, a rightwing interpretation of religion. They don’t care for the religious liberty of someone leaving water in the desert for migrants, because that person sees it as their religious duty to care for others.

I think regarding the “holding up” part of older media, it helps when the protagonists are supposed to be shitty people, then the added racism/bigotry are in character. It’s more difficult to watch a supposed good guy suddenly blurt out straight up homophobia or “ironic” 2000s racism.

I’m always a bit apprehensive whenever a piece of media gets hyped a lot, and then there is the whole “does it still hold up after all these years” question, but yeah, I did love it too, and think it still holds up.

Just like half the viewers back then, lol. I only finally watched it last year or so, but I already knew how it would end because of the controversy Bach then. TBH I don’t know if there would have been a better ending possible. Any more specific ending would have pissed off a lot of people anyway.

5 minutes on Facebook would show that the supposed “first time Trump voter” was posting pro Trump posts as far back as 2019. Journalistic malpractice indeed.

Now I’m not saying I’m a better journalist than the writer, I’m not even a journalist, but yes, I’m a better journalist than the supposed Pulitzer winner who wrote that piece. Embarrassing.

So, this very sympathetic piece where the subject is “a lifelong Democrat who had voted for Trump for the first time in 2024”. 5 minutes of checking his facebook shows pro Trump posts as far back as 2019, and a post saying that he “stands with Trump” posted just a couple of days after Trumps coup.

The thing is that most of the people pushing back on you on this already know the Republican ideology. Just because you haven’t figured it out yet doesn’t mean we are biased or whatever, it means you are living with massive blinders on.

It’s funny how you already ingested Republicans false framing of their own worldview (for example, no, they don’t believe in meritocracy at all, despite their claims), which showcases both what a rube you are, and why this is a bad idea.

Some people really want to keep enjoying that guys content guilt free, but nobody is stopping them from watching it, and any lingering guilt they feel is on them, and nothing we can absolve them of. Also screenshot of quoted post before he inevitably blocks you.

Rico Charges @NoChorus

Once at my granny's house my uncle excitedly said a James Bond film was on the tv. My Da said "sure they're all the same, a load of lads shooting at one lad then a mountain blows up." My uncle got really mad at how reductive that was then became furious when the mountain blew up.

My Da, of course, knew it was the one where the mountain blows up at the end. This was a foundational lesson which illustrated to me that walking the path of the hater means knowing more about something that people

Capex vs opex, basically. It’s one of the reason why a lot of companies went to cloud applications and infrastructure for their IT the last decade: paying as operating expenses instead of needing to finance it with capital expenditure. Looks good on the balance sheet.

Quite difficult to obscure just how radicalised and extreme this stuff is, which is awkward because we have been told in no uncertain terms that it's actually *opposing* it that's the violent extremist position. Bit of a pickle, make no mistake.

With the utter glee Michael Tracey has been going after victims of rape lately, and his consistent defense of rapists, one can only conclude that Michael Tracey is a rapist himself, if not one who has engaged in it before, someone who at least shows a willingness to engage in it.
