I still remember standing in line to get it signed, the only ten-year -old in a room filled with lonely middle-aged men. “Hey KID! Whaddya want me to write?” “Excelsior, you fathead!” For a minute I was afraid Jean Shepherd thought I was calling him a fathead. He left the “you fathead” off.

I recently dug up this old blender purchased around the same time this episode first aired, and noted its hideous color - the same color as the victim’s kitchen appliances in this episode. It was popular back then!

Yes. There is a famous anecdote about Beethoven’s attempt to conduct his 9th Symphony. The phenomenon is quite widespread, and most don’t notice their lack of ability.

The Touching Moment: After the final notes of the "Ode to Joy," Beethoven continued to face the orchestra, unaware the piece had ended and the audience was applauding wildly. Contralto Caroline Unger walked over and turned him around to see the standing ovation, allowing him to witness the triumph.
