Last week, @cryze.bsky.social, found and reported an issue in the handling of filenames in our mobile apps. We got our first responsible disclosure report yesterday! On 32bit builds, it was possible to bypass the client-side PBKDF2 iteration count check by overflowing the parameter. We patched the issue and shipped an update within a few hours. Thank you to the researcher for reporting responsibly!

Long requested feature for our web app: upload whole folders not just single items. Now it's possible and preserves the existing folder structure and automatically creates folders/albums. The other app already did that, now the web does too. #degoogle #madeineu

It is displayed alongside, the exact locations are also stored and shown (as an opt-in, there's also a map that shows the exact position on an OpenStreetMaps-map), see below In general, even for metadata that is not imported, we always preserve the original file and with it the original metadata.

The past few weeks have been a bit quiet from our end. We finally finished a huge refactoring of the Android/iOS apps that ultimately got rid of >30k lines of code. We migrated all viewmodel logic into the shared #go core allowing us way more code sharing while still offering native UI/UX. #oss

Our storage and compute costs just went up ~35%. It cuts directly into the margin we use to build and improve #zeitkapsl We could pass that on. Instead: Inhousing our storage layer Gradually replacing Hetzner and Backblaze Best case: No price increase, stronger resilience, and faster uploads. 🤞
