The older I get the more critical I become towards media. Ideas don't exist in a vacuum, and things don't become popular for no reason. Why are Alex Grey's "psychedelic" paintings so popular, despite the fact that they're the most tame, universal and watered down stereotypical ideas ever?

I'm actually really excited to share the full painting I just finished, and not just my struggle with the hands lol. There are a couple little details left to refine and then I need to let it sit for a few days before covering it in matte medium for photos.

I've painted a pair of hands again and again easily a couple dozen times and each one was worse than the last, before I realized I just really needed to redo a reference photo with the hands in a more convenient position, and then finally, I nailed it in like 10 minutes. ~*~*~*The Process*~*~*~

It's difficult for me to adequately explain just how wealthy Oregon and Washington are, by virtue of their timber. It's like greenwashed petroleum. It's like coal in Appalachia. Every single impoverished rural county sits on a replenishing gold mine that currently enriches oligarchs, and not us.

Timber is one of a few major natural resources extracted in the PNW. Timber monopolies earn billions in profit from it every year. Almost none of that money goes back to the public in any meaningful way. At the same time, since forestry practices are profit-driven, they are unsustainable.
