I missed my dad's yahrzeit today. I actually had a calendar alert go off 24 hours late. My own fault. I'll go to Shacharit service tomorrow morning, a day late. The timing doesn't matter. It's been 33 years. An entire lifetime. He never met his grandchildren. He'd have been so proud of them.

Am feeling somewhat better. Still can't smell anything. Heavy chest congestion and a cough. Living on nebulizers. Will be okay. I've had covid several times now. It always hits me hard. I normally get a vaccination update, but hadn't yet this year. But man, if you can get vaccinated, I suggest it.

I'm getting over covid. Two weeks ago, I came down with what I thought was the flu, and it rapidly progressed into a chills, high fever, chest congestion, coughing, etc. I have no idea how I got it. I work from home, so I'm not around many people these days, and my kids were not in school. +

Judaism is, of course, very decentralized. Rabbis, even those associated with a denominational movement, have strong authority to run their synagogues in ways that best fit their communities. So now we have a halakhic response from the CJLS. (12 of them in one, actually.) What's going to change? +

The Jewish Conservative / Masorti movement has issued a 37-page teshuvah (response) regarding intermarriage. Conservative clergy are still prohibited from performing intermarriages. They also want to be dramatically more welcoming. This entire response exists in tension between the two. +

The building is currently being converted to residential apartments. Apparently Gensler is adding 19 floors, which makes it the largest conversion in NYC history. There's a video from inside the bldg on Channel 11's instagram.

The (former) Pfizer building at 235 West 42 in Manhattan has been evacuated. Two columns buckled. Sagging floors. Debris falling to the streets below. It may collapse. I spent a lot of time in that building when I worked with Pfizer. Built in the 60's by Emery Roth, a post-war modernist design. +

In one of the books, he has a list of male strippers. Dong Quixote. Anaconda. Etc. The last one was "Author Steve Rowland." Who the hell is Steve Rowland? (I don't read much LitRPG.) Googled him. And found this:

I get the impulse. I do. I live in a state where I have to vote for genuinely terrible candidates with D's after their name all the time. Downballot, Democrats don't even run for a lot of positions here. It's deeply frustrating. But I draw the line at voting for fucking Nazis.

He's considered a messiah by Muslims. Jesus is repeatedly referred to as al-Masih in the Quran, which literally means "the messiah." That said, the term means different things in Islam vs. Christianity.
