Looking for a div 5-4 team that
- is 18+
- plays at EU-friendly times
- is neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ friendly
- practices around 1-2 times a week (i can maybe do more but i'd have to see first)
- if div 5 team, is fine playing with a Low Ink banned player

I'm very active in behind-the-scenes community work (e.g. SBA, Community Census, TOing) and do coaching and occasionally educational content. That means my availability is a bit scuffed, usually it should be easy to schedule around but there may be some days that I can't play because of e.g. TOing. Generally, my ability to grind practice is a bit limited, I might not be able to play X or do individual practice as much, I'm probably not fit for a team that wants to grind like crazy.

My thoughts on Splat Safety and recent community discussion

I understand that this discussion is extremely emotional for many. However, I hope we can all find common ground in that something like Splat Safety should exist. Without something like it, TOs and organizers (like me) could not do the work they want to do and would likely quit (and we're already seeing a lot of organizers expressing that they are no longer motivated). More importantly, victims would have to make their case to many different orgs to get perpetrators out of the community, and I don't think any org would be equipped to adequately investigate a situation like Splat Safety does. Without something like Splat Safety, the community becomes a much more hostile environment towards victims.

I trust Splat Safety, and its volunteers have my utmost respect. They voluntarily and repeatedly investigate the darkest sides of our community to keep it safe, without any pay, without anyone saying thank you, with many community members spreading hate against their work. I cannot stress enough how emotionally difficult that must be. I imagine the only thing that keeps them going are altruistic beliefs in a better and safer community.

I can see how others do not have that same trust, especially if you feel Splat Safety has acted unjustly. I hope that some can watch their video and see the same maturity and responsibility for a safer community that I did, but I also understand that some will not. Trust takes time to build, and is almost impossible to keep up for a small volunteer org like Splat Safety, when the cases they regularly deal with too often contain extremely dividing sides. I hope you can at least see that Splat Safety and its volunteers have good intention.

I understand and encourage voicing criticism you have of Splat Safety. I would ask you, however, to not spread hate or misinformation. Sending emotional, short, and not-fact-checked messages is far easier and faster than trying to investigate and find the truth. Please take the time to carefully review the public information we have before sharing your opinion. Please realize that in many cases, you will not and should not have access to every part of a case. Spreading hate and hurtful messages doesn't help anyone, let's talk about this in a constructive way.

To quote Dr. Piggy, "Twitter justice doesn't work." Bluesky justice doesn't work. For everyone's safety and well-being, we need an organization like Splat Safety. I hope that at least this is something we can agree on.

i don't have long term improvement goals, it's not valuable for the position i am in as a player rn, but i am a big fan of keeping track of shorter-term goals and holding myself accountable to doing one of these when practicing. This is my current list, mostly working on 1, 2.1 and 2.2 right now

taking a break from coaching monday

Heya everyone, i'm taking an indefinite break from coaching monday - with my work in the SBA and other community projects I've been heavily involved in, I've been feeling relatively burned out from livestreamed coaching recently. You probably have also felt that with the livestreams being more inconsistent and me taking lots of weeks off. I really enjoyed helping a lot of different people, and I loved how this project meant that my coaching could especially reach those who aren't as involved with the community, but as a coach it also feels personally more fulfilling to work with the same people for a longer amount of time, so that is probably what I'll mostly do in the near future. I'll very likely return to this project in the future, but for now I just need a break from it.

Sidenote that it's really valuable for coaches to have an optional feedback form where people can fill out how much the coaching helped them btw. here are the questions i have in my general coaching feedback form (i have some extra ones for coaching monday feedback, but not much)

Looked into this for a video script, isn't it weird how we call div 5-7 "low level" and div 4-2 "mid level", when in #LUTI the middle of participating teams is in div 7? Our terminology isn't up to date for the size of the community anymore (it hasn't been for a while), and doesn't reflect on [1/3]

Table showing LUTI divisions, how many teams are in a division and how many total teams are in lower or higher divisions. Div 7 is the first div where the number of teams in a higher div surpasses that of lower divs, and is also the div where the numbers are the closest.

Closing SBA applications with 252 applicants in total, basically matching it with S1 (which had 253). It's cool seeing the interest in joining comp still being so big even in times where the game itself isn't getting much attention.
