For me, that was Flash (AS2)! It started kinda like: click on something in the in-editor reference book, and it places down a little code template. All other functions/features were discoverable right in the same place. It's a friendly integrated documentation system I haven't seen done elsewhere.

Thanks!! Yours seemed super impressive to me too! I imagine we probably had similar range. I'll have to watch your full recap after all is done. I can't believe I made a Rubik's cube game or came up with some of the absurd ideas I have already. This is a wildly illuminating time of introspection

I read your post when I had the idea <3 I wanted to see if anyone else did it! Our experiences are so similar. I reached the point where the code isn't even complex, yet every line feels like 4D chess past midnight. It takes hours to have an idea now. But I'm pushing though!! 6 more games to goooo

I feel like "30 games in 30 days" isn't something we CAN recommend to someone. Like climbing Everest, it has to be each individual that decides to make the physical and mental sacrifice, or not. But by the end I'm going to be so proud of myself! (Your 30 games looked super creative too btw!)

Oh wow, 18 done already! Great work! I wasn't expecting anyone else to try and tackle this crazy, unreasonable challenge, haha. Good luck with the remaining 12! (Try not to burn yourself out, though! Five years later, that's still one of the hardest things I've ever done.)

Thank you so much!! I'm glad to share this feeling with someone else. It is definitely the hardest challenge I've done, now that I'm this far in. But it's neat to observe how my creativity and stamina work, and how I operate being so tired lol But every day I get rewarded with a game at the end!

I've been blown away by the reception of my #gamedev and #programming videos the past year! If you've watched or subscribed, big thanks for rejuvenating my dream to be a successful indie dev. :D I'M SO READY FOR CONFETTI

The biggest adjustment for me was to eat dinner immediately after work, so I can have the largest uninterrupted time to develop as possible. But it's so difficult, and I have been very sleep-deprived 😅 It's a once in a life-time sort of challenge, I'd say.

Day 18 is done! I even submitted one to a game jam. I'm really proud of most of these games. But I've been VERY tired. I have a full-time job, y'know. But by the end, I hope to join @lou.cool in the very small club of devs who've survived the 30 games in 30 days #gamedev challenge. Wish me luck!

That's so sweet, thanks so much for playing together and sending your feedback! Saving would definitely be good to have. I'm surprised I never even considered that for public released! The programming language is Haxe - it was inspired by Flash, but I'm actually compiling it straight to HTML5.

I'm making 30 games in 30 days. #gamedev I design and code each one after work every day! Each one is based on a year of my life, and when I finish making the last one, I will turn 30 years old. 13 days in! Wish me luck making it to the end haha :D
A simple 3D third-person game with no anti-aliasing, with a pixelated floating platform containing colored collectables. There is a rather abstract waterfall in the background.A simple 2D pixel art factory game, with mechanisms turning paper into envelopes for packaging.A classic-style 3D maze game, with pixel art signs denoting the cardinal directions.A simple puzzle game showing level 4, consisting of 5 ABC-blocks spelling "LOLLOPOP" by either being fully or partially rotated. The middle block is selected and can be rotated or moved.

The mini-map in this game has a fancy radar feature, where it reveals where you can find the next letter to make your sign. The map uses hyperbolic tan projection to curve the visuals! Such a neat trick for 2D #gamedev. :)

I made a game where all of the graphics, sound effects, and music were made using just sine waves! Check out my latest YouTube video to see how it was made. Game's called Crow Sign - you're a crow that flies banners for neighbors on different planets. #gamedev #indiedev

The future is here! Pasting SVG in #AfterEffects \o/ A couple years ago, this is what I had to do: I made a Python script that converted SVG clipboard content to AE paths for pasting. A bit later someone made a paid plugin that did the same thing but better. But hey I was proud of my hodgepodgery:

I just got back from #Avatar3 with my family! Here's my #pixelart of James Cameron's panther (a Thanator) meeting its real life counterpart: (Process gif in 🧵)
Pixel art of a 6 legged alien dragon-like creature (also known as the Thanator from Avatar 1) meeting a normal panther, set in a lush and detailed jungle.4x zoomed in version of previous image, on the strange face of the Thanator glaring at the panther. The different in size of their paws is rather notable at this size.Another 4x closer from previous image on the panther. Its paw details are more readable at this scale.

Just an idea: Still render the text all at once. But separately, draw the grid colors to a small image that you stretch over everything and multiply with the text using a blend mode. Composite over a second stretched image for the background colors?

It's too true!! For almost the entire time, I was resolving interactions per object rather than per collision, and I was losing my mind to stuff just randomly exploding because of that simple mistake. And yeah I don't even need an edge case for rigidbodies to rocket to space. They prefer that mode

I hadn't thought about that! Would you pick them the round before your turn, so you have to predict what your opponent will choose first? I considered letting the opponent control shuffles by pressing swap presets. But it would be hard to both shuffle AND pay attention to what's under each cup haha
