Precisely. In my head this scene is playing out across light hours, but I couldn’t imagine a way to convey that. Instead I tried relying on imagery that folks might be familiar with… a cooked planetoid, some beams, event horizons etc.

Calphis is the first interstellar world visited and inhabited by the people of Sol. There are many issues on Calphis, not the least of which is the thousands of kilometers of dusty, inert wasteland belting the planet. #hibourverse #space #digitalart

A space station (the modified payload section of an interstellar spacecraft) orbits high above Calphis. The barren surface of Calphis is swirled by active climatology and obscured by the shadows of her many moons, one of which can be seen far beyond the planet.

Ha… In 2021, in the USAF, I ran a planning cell that had to find an airfield my aircraft could stage out of that wasn’t vulnerable to attack from Iran in a Hormuz situation When my research concluded that no such airfield existed within those conflict parameters, CENTCOM was very unhappy with me
