Lovely earth lass seeks helpful hitchhiker to stick a thumbs up to the cosmos and get her off this rock. Good at history. Tolerable company. Almost, but not entirely, unlike a computer literate amoeba. I don't know where my towel is... I have problems.

Movie you’ve watched more than six times using gifs. (“Hard mode” no Star Wars, Star Trek, or LOTR) Her name is Tallulah...

This whole thing fascinates me. I don't know what to make of it. It's amazing to me that for most of my life I had never heard of it, yet it is such a huge thing in Orthodoxy. The enthusiasm on everybody's face is electric. Would be worth going to see for that alone.

Jesus knows what it's like to be falsely accused. He knows what it is like to not receive due process. He knows what it is like to be deprived the right to a fair trial. He knows what it is like to face punishment you did not deserve. His death is the eternal promise that there WILL be justice.

I choose to avoid politics on here. But I do want to say some obvious things. People are entitled to due process. Always. Police killing, instead of bringing people in for trial, is a violation of habeas corpus. These rights are for all, even non-citizens and your enemies, or they are for nobody.

Can we please not forget that ALL the people sent to the El Salvadoran prison deserve due fucking process? ALL of them. Every single one of them.

The first posy in a thimble I made, to lift my mood during the pandemic. The flowers are all real. When humans look at plants (even on a screen as here) we recover from stress 60% more quickly & the relaxation response is triggered in our brains. Zoom in if you're strung out🌿
A very small (real) flower arrangement in a thimble including forget me nots , lily of the valley, buttercup, geum, chive flower bud, snowberry, green alkanet…

Became suspicious early on and moved to a new vendor, but couldn't resist the chance to test him on it. Doesn't he realise the books were bound by the family who bought them, the binding can be replaced it's not part of the original periodical? Taking the plates drops the value of both dramatically.

Just confirmed a long-held suspicion that the vendor I used to use for Fashion Plates for the Collection I curated was tearing antique book apart to get the prints. I am fuming.

Because it's April Fools, and the world is imploding, I decided to go in for some old-fashioned gentle tomfoolery to lift the mood. I snuck into the kitchen and swapped the labels on the spice rack. I'm not in trouble yet, but the thyme is cumin. 🌿🌶️ (Just kidding, I can't walk!)

Sudden childhood flashbacks: mother's fave tablecloth got red wine stained. She was distraught until a guest mentioned the white wine thing, and she had some in the fridge (unusual in our house). Saw that stain disappear right before my eyes. I'll never forget it. Tears to joy on my mother's face.

Having spent the last 30 months extremely isolated and unwell, with only my mother for company, I find myself surprised by how regularly the average person uses swearwords. I feel like I am a fish in an unfamiliar stream. Did I change or did everyone else?

Love this purple lady from 1799. I was convinced she must be later given how neat her up-do is compared to her contemporaries (see comparison). But take a look at her reticule! A thing of beauty! A picnic basket full of filigree and carved agate cameo cabochons of Ancient Greek athletes. Lovely.
Purple half-suit in the German style. Journal des Luxus und Der Moden September 1799. Lady with a purple overdress, open at the front, cream kid gloves, a pink fan and a reticule bag. A high waisted white underdress, with a standing ruff at the nape of the neck, and a squared neckline at the front.A close look at the lady's hair, neatly tied with three bands of purple ribbon in a homage to ancient Greek hairstyles. Her fringe is curled at the front, and the bun at the back is loose at the top to allow curls to sit at the edge of the crown of her head. She has cruciform dangling earrings, but no other jewellery. She wears elbow-length gloves. Her purple overdress has shot sleeves, and the underdress has a spiral of frills that goes down to her elbow. Two bands of purple ribbon with embroidery in between demarcate her high waist under the bust.A lady from January 1800 in the same magazine, with wild curly hair, held together by a black bejewelled headband with a cameo in the middle, three ears of corn are inserted in the side. She has gold oval hoop earrings, and a black short sleeved overdress, hemmed with red and white patterned ribbon. It is open at the front to expose her white underdress, tied at a high waist under the bust. Her neckline is v-shaped and she wears a frilled fichu shawl tied at the front and pinned with a large Star of David style brooch to cover her cleavage. The purple reticule, a bag made to look like a jewellery box, with sharp angles, and gold edging on the sides, and gold filigree around the top and bottom. Two cameos of Greek athletes are visible, sitting in the middle of each side. The box widens towards the top in the shape of a picnic basket, with two flaps to open it, and a handle, the base of which is decorated with white polished shell in the form of the petals of a flower. In her other hand the lady holds a closed pink fan.

I love when you find idiosyncrasies in fashion plates. It may be that a worker was just in a hurry to get to the end of the working day, or that they didn't read the description so just made it up. This plate is for Les Dammes et Les Modes 1799, and is called The Pink Hat. Which do you like better?
