I've been driving EVs for over a quarter century. I've owned EVs for over a decade. I roadtrip *all the time*. I've never, ever, used Superchargers. The allure of 'much slower and much more expensive' alone mean I'll never consider it, douche bags hassling non-teslas another bonus avoided.

Yup! Most of the reduction in pollution has been the modernization/electrification of vehicles that travel into metro, still hundreds of thousands of vehicles a day (350-500k) so electrification has been the biggest tool in these outcomes.

And pre 2020, not only were they engaging in systemic discrimination and harassment of minorities, Tesla was also one of, and in many cases the largest, pollution violator land, water, and air - so anyone who bought a Tesla around the time of the Model 3 launch endorsed that pollution. Never Tesla!

About to hit 5 years of ownership on ours, absolutely love it! When you realize a 5 year old IONIQ 5 has more features, charges faster, etc than any 🇺🇸 domestic branded vehicle in the segment, all the lobbying to retard EV adoption in the 🇺🇸 makes more sense. So great we have 🌎 competitive stuff!

Cultural differences, the old adage most in the UK wouldn’t drive 2-3 hours to see family, folks just drive a lot in the U.S. due to lack of transit and cut down or consolidate when prices increase.

Is U.S. adoption where it should be? No. No country is immediately after subsidies are cut as we saw in Canada and Germany. Should we keep calling a market that buys over a million EVs a year with increasing market share the worst? I dunno, 1 million+ EVs a year seems consequential to me.

It’s just so odd to see Canada’s EV market share decline three quarters straight, and U.S. flat two and now rising, on track to exceed Canada in a quarter or two, and over a million EVs+ sold this year, constantly the whipping boy. Amazing U.S. car buyers are achieving so much despite dom lobbying.

As Alex already mentioned, interesting to see legal brands struggling bring JV stuff into market that's clearly the donor manufacture with the legacy brands badging. Worked well for Honda with the Prologue (rebadged Chevy from Mexico).

This’ll be on sale in hybrid form shortly, GM and Ford have zero competition, especially Ford having deliberately eliminated any options under $30k and cancelled several electrified vehicles. It’s probably smart to buy the best electrified option for you money and don’t limit to grandparents brands
