I also went through a breakup this summer. Which sucked pretty hard. At least I had physics to help me through the tough times, as it usually did in the past. It kept me from spiraling too hard, especially in the lab. Along with Katatonia and Ghost on repeat while waiting for the XRD to finish.

I've come a long way and am hopeful about the future again. One day I'll insert my art back into my life but for now, I'm enjoying the physics ride. It's something that has been well overdue for almost 20 years.

I showed up, did the work, and thrived like crazy. I even presented my research at a conference last week! Something I never thought I'd do so early considering I had to start at the bottom in math before even touching a physics class.

It has erased my doubts about being a nontrad student and has re-calibrated my goals for the rest of undergrad.

Anyway. I had a wonderful summer in physics research. More specifically materials science. I have a wonderful mentor who showed me a career in this field is not only obtainable but that I can thrive in it.

Hey, been quite a while since I last been online! The break has been great for me. I shed a lot of bad thoughts and replaced them with new thoughts.

I hope this reevaluation, and constant confidence building going on in university, helps me become a better person and artist in the future. It still feels like an uphill battle but I'm working on it.

I've also been reevaluating my relationship with art. With the stuff going on in certain areas of the art sphere, I decided to take a step back and keep the art stuff to myself, for now. I'm still drawing and creating I just don't feel like sharing it in this moment in time.

Just a small life update I've returned to university and have been quite busy with classes. It looks like I may become even busier as the semesters go on. Some good things are quickly happening. Not only have I become good at math, it's opening up some doors that I never thought were possible.

I've been working on some sticker ideas. The sketches are pretty solid. Hopefully the final inks are just as good!

Pterosaurs, which is covered. Marine reptiles like plesiosauria and ichthyosauria. Early to mid Permian and Triassic life. Stuff like that. I had sources on Twitter yet lost them by leaving the platform. Finding websites outside of social media is the best solution.

For pterosaurs, I recommend pteros.com - it's amazing and well vetted. Anything else, just steer clear of reptileevolution and ptetosaurheresies
pteros.com
Pteros, The Encyclopedia of Pterosaurs
From Aerotitan to Zhenyuanopterus, Pteros covers all genera of the prehistoric flying reptiles known as pterosaurs.

Yay, it's raining out. Last year was quite dry. Hopefully this year isn't. Just as long as there isn't so much rain it floods >.>

Life update: I've been hauling ass by catching up on a lot of math the past two or three months. The end is near, though. I should finish by next week. After that I'll be scheduling time better to devote to comic pages and other art associated with it. It's all set up to go. Just need to work hard.

These were created last summer for TheLostDex beta #Pokemon zine. Beta Shuckle and a small dino were assigned. The writer and I were able to take the most liberty with the small dino, who was named Shelltar during the project. It was a lot of fun and I hope to draw for another Pokemon #zine someday.
A small dinosaur with an egg and amber motif lifting up a Golem on it's back.A beta Shuckle design. It's sitting on a rock near a pond while picking Apricorn berries off of nearby bushes. A few berries are floating in the water.

Picked up the #watercolor sketchbook again after putting it away in November. Caught up on some videos from a watercolorist I follow. Played around with Franklin Booth's inking style and practiced using flatter, more limited colors with watercolor. I may have found a style for Thorntail (finally)
First image is of a long necked dragon. There's a deep blue sky with pale, purple clouds in the background. The sky has has long hatch lines that become denser from top to bottom.

Second image is an ink sketch featuring a brown dwarf taking up most of the sky. Basically the transition between a gas giant and low mass star. It features gas band lines and storm eyes similar to Jupiter. The inking style is heavily inspired by Franklin Booth's hatching style.

The only part that worries me is the financial aid. The FASFA gave me some hope a lot will be covered with a Pell Grant. I also had one full day before the scholarship deadline to put my application in. Here's hoping late spring has more good news. It's certainly keeping my spirits up.

I was accepted into university. They actually sent me two acceptance letter packages. Probably by accident. Also had an enormous amount of credits accepted. Like, 99 enormous. Everything is looking good so far.

I learned Photoshop. Knew a lot about it. Ditched it for Krita and all that knowledge from Photoshop moved over with the new program.

Currently in the process of applying to a university to finish a bachelor's degree. I've been busting ass to master algebra and familiarize myself with calculus. Hopefully it goes better this time.

I hope yall had clear skies last night. There's still time though, because the Geminids will still put on a good show tonight! I'll be out again to see a few (or a lot of) shooting stars. Here's what you need to know: www.scientificamerican.com/article/leon... 🧪 🔭

I live under Bortle 5 skies. Grew up under Bortle 3 - 4 skies. While it's not too bad, I'm used to darker skies. The difference is for sure noticeable. At least was able to see the brightest streaks. It was an awesome sight

It's never a 1:1 to the real colors due to losing a little in the scanning process. Still it works out pretty well. I do it for little corrections in my traditional art and just because I have tooons of mixing pages lmao

Mine are messy, too. Some pages consist of color mixing experiments. Pages of it in some cases. Also lots of overlapping sketches. Nobody looks at it so it's a private space to do what I want

Be independent. I have a few graphic novel ideas down to complete within my lifetime. Plus any illustrations (related and unrelated to said graphic novels) along the way. I'm also learning how to draw more realistically for more elaborate animal/creature illustrations.

All the time since I run at my own frequency in life. I tend not to get into stuff just because it's popular at the time. Usually because I take my time with the stuff I do enjoy. The other things will be there later...when everyone has moved onto the next ten things. It's very alienating...
