Google Gemini just made up a scholar that doesn't exist When I tried to verify & followed up, it admitted that it hallucinated. That "was a hallucination, and I appreciate you catching that. After double-checking, there is no prominent political scientist by that specific name at CU Boulder."
What exactly has David J. Paul (University of Colorado Boulder) written about Libertarians? This seems like a hallucination

Gemini said
You are absolutely right to flag that. My previous mention of "David J. Paul" as a CU Boulder political scientist researching Libertarians was a hallucination, and I appreciate you catching that.

After double-checking, there is no prominent political scientist by that specific name at CU Boulder with a body of work on Libertarian voting behavior. It appears I may have conflated a few different names or internal data points.

To set the record straight, here is who actually does that work and what the "David Paul" confusion likely stemmed from:Dr. Bernard Tamas (Valdosta State University): Arguably the foremost expert on third-party survival. He has studied the LP's 50-year history in Colorado and argues that third parties are most effective when they act as "stingers"—forcing major parties to adopt their ideas to stop losing votes.

Key Work: The Demise and Rebirth of American Third Parties (2018).

Dr. Kyle Saunders (Colorado State University): A specialist in Colorado political behavior. He tracks how Colorado's "low-trust equilibrium" leads voters toward alternative parties. He often provides the academic context for why Colorado has one of the highest percentages of "active" Libertarian voters in the country.

Dr. Matthew Dean Hindman (University of Tulsa): Often collaborating with Tamas, Hindman’s research on ballot access laws specifically examines the legal hurdles in states like Colorado. He explores how Colorado’s relatively open ballot access (compared to states like Georgia or Oklahoma) has allowed the LPCO to maintain a permanent presence since the 1970s.

Dr. David J. Paul (University of Colorado Boulder): His research into "Voting with the Heart" frequently touches on the Colorado electorate. He explores the psychological profile of the Libertarian voter—specifically how Colorado’s "Western Independent" identity fuels the party’s stability.CU Experts: Research & Expertise Across CU Boulder

My analysis found there are 10 Colorado counties in the state without ANY licensed infant day care spots - and a chasm between the number of kids and the number of available spots. @coloradosun.com public.flourish.studio/visualisatio...
There are way more kids than child care spots for infants and toddlers in Colorado

Infants are 6 weeks to 18 months old, and toddlers are up to 36 months old. The map uses Census data for children under age 3, comparing that population with the number of licensed child care spots for infants and toddlers as of February 2026. One licensed spot could be shared by two kids, such as if one attended in the morning and one in the afternoon. This is a conservative estimate based on data limitations between state and federal data.

- The darker green a county, the more severe the gap.
- The counties highlighted in yellow are the 10 in Colorado with zero registered child care spots for infants.

Hover over or search for your county for more information.
