You are valid, but while I love a good pie crust, warm apple pie filling is godly

There is absolutely no viable path forward for this country that doesn’t hinge on extreme accountability for everyone involved in this administration. They’re going to whine about politicization and credulous media types will echo them, but the thing is, they’ve committed tons of obvious crimes!

It's good, right now it exists as a coffee table book for me cause I'm not running any hard sci-fi, but one day (sometimes it's a little overwhelming if you're not ready to manage the spreadsheets and math tho haha)

Fair, although I'm not sure one should even ascribe these sorts of in-games acts as "symbolic sadism or evil". In the GTA example, is the morality of shooting at NPCs determined by if the video game has labelled them Enemies?

Zac Writes Sometimes 💭 @zac13.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
What is it that makes it "fucked up" though? Does playing GTA say anything about a person's willingness/desire to murder and steal? What makes that different? There's no substance upon which this "says a lot about" a person

It's a whole different realm from torturing ants to death. It's video games, it's not real, it's code. This is "video games cause violence" in a trenchcoat

Honestly, if in some sci-fi future there are actually sentient robots, I don't think they'd give a fuck about LLMs' make believe "feelings" at all

[a satirical Chicago CTA transit map showing a giant red circular train line extending high into the sky, deep into the earth's mantle, and through Lake Michigan.]

"CTA Unveils New Circle Line Design: New line takes advantage of newly discovered third dimension.

Stations along the route include the Jane Byrne Interchange, Sears Tower Skydeck, Bean Access via Structural Firepole, Wreck of the Silver Spray, Future Stadium of Upper Mantle Bears, Hole, and Lowest Known Wacker Drive.

Additional diagram notes indicate that the train is shown to scale, Navy Pier is intentionally ignored, the color red was chosen for the line to confuse tourists, and highlights the Jean Baptiste Point DuSable Sedementary Divide."

we live in a world where "humanity is rotten to the core" is a more tolerable idea than "capitalism is kinda busted" but what I love about "capitalism is kinda busted" is realizing every good thing that happens is in spite of capitalism because humans are that committed to doing good things

I struggle to put words to it, but there is an incredible darkness (evidently captured by this movie to some degree) to the way chuds view any and all violence against alleged pedophiles as unquestionably just and righteous

It's some real "when you expose a problem you pose a problem" stuff tbh. Trans people stating that they won't vote for transphobic candidates become identified with the problem of that candidate losing.

If you don't understand what's important about studying language, or power, or history, or politics...I really don't care how what theorems you've proven or how big a bridge you can build, anything you do to help humanity is an accident.

Exactly, they also conflate "difficulty" with "different". Pacman (or basically any package manager) is easier to use than how most people install software on non-linux systems

It is fascinating to me that AI proponents have imposed a weird capitalism onto these agents. Like I get that they were developed under capitalism, but the need to imbue the machines with the protestant work ethic is crazy to me
