A ball.
A boy tries to kick a ball.
Determined.
Focused, he runs.
Gaining speed, momentum.
He thrusts his foot ahead as hard as he can.
Nothing.
The ball has vanished.
He crashes into the earth.
A dark-haired siren in a blue dress laughs.
Pain.
Panic.
Humiliation.
