Historic moment: Saku actually using a sticker (by @yupiistar.bsky.social btw)

A drawer full of glue and tape. On it is a sticker of Erika from Umineko with the text "I have... DUCTAPE"
Next to it is a wallpaper visible with golden butterflies.

Shoutouts to Waver & Rider too, they're also a favorite duo like I hope there's more of them someday..... Shirou & Saber admitively pissed me off in the Fate route (might be a Deen adaption problem though) but in UBW they're growing on me.

there are so many Shinris. back-broken-tracking-Shinri. Shinri reaching toward the viewer saying "chat, let's be in our mid 30s together". Angry Ceiling Chibiwi. EmberrIsland's Cookie Run-esque Investigator Shinri posed with his hands behind his back saying "I frew up". Remorseful/fish-eye lens'd Shinri saying "No fishes??". This article is fascinating! What should, on paper, be the truest possible way to be faithful to the original intent fails to account for technical limitations, now absent, that the original was designed to incorporate and accommodate.

Adding more Chiba directed screencaps to complete the collection, the last two eps he worked in (ep 56 and 63 respectively) were SOOO good

But okay, all in all my overall thoughts summarized: OG Anime really good! While it fumbled on some parts, it's for most part a very fun adaption! I'd easily recommend it to any manga reader as supplementary material.

010

Yupii Hunie ⭐ COMMS OPEN @yupiistar.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

Bringing back this old doodle from 2020 to close out that section, you can use this as a handy chart

120

Yupii Hunie ⭐ COMMS OPEN @yupiistar.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

From frame 0 the OG anime fumbles the ball with him. In the manga he's all smiles and so confident when introduced, and he's kind of a ragebaiter even (love it) Again, I get what the OG anime was trying to convey, but how do you read his chapters and go "yeah he's mad 24/7 and the biggest jerk ever"

110

Yupii Hunie ⭐ COMMS OPEN @yupiistar.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

Which speaking of, as a footnote to my bf's footnote: Good lord the OG anime is rough if you're a Lyserg fan after reading the manga. Look how they massacred my boy. I get what the writing was trying to convey but it's like I'm looking at an entirely different character. HOW DID WE GET HERE???

120

Yupii Hunie ⭐ COMMS OPEN @yupiistar.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

As for the awaited opinion though: My BF, who after the remake for the past 6 years spent it roasting SK, gave the OG anime a 7/10 (he gave the remake a 2/10) ! And he MIGHT actually give the manga a shot someday... But the footnote: "WHY is the brit your favorite babe I STILL DON'T GET IT"

130

Yupii Hunie ⭐ COMMS OPEN @yupiistar.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

I was yapping about it in yesterday's stream (so sorry X6 got yapped over by my SK brainworm lol) but for one I really also love how the OG anime did a concentrated effort in building the group dynamic and it really pays off in the end. All the little extra scenes + 'filler' does so much for them.

130

Yupii Hunie ⭐ COMMS OPEN @yupiistar.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

In spite of it veering off course from the source in the 2nd half and as a consequence some parts of the manga not making it in (Ozorezan revoir my beloved) and some of the characters not hitting the heights they did in the manga, I genuinely feel like the anime team had a blast working on this.
