🔬 First live-cell imaging experiments done in my lab at HKU! Human RPE1 cells expressing Lifeact-GFP (actin) and EB3-GFP (MT plus-ends), imaged in Fast Airyscan mode on a Zeiss LSM 900👇. Thanks to Denise Kuok Iok Teng for imaging setup, and to Manuel Théry & Louise Bonnemay for the cells 🙏🫶😆

Unlike eggs & mitotic cells, in adherent interphasic cells the centrosome is NOT positioned by a balance of forces along #microtubules, but by cell shape organization around the #centrosome: rupress.org/jcb/article/... @lblanchoin.bsky.social @manuelthery.bsky.social @gelinmatthieu.bsky.social

Mix two motors of opposite polarity with microtubules and they will partition space ! Microtubules will get organized in polar and active barriers, sorting the two motors in separated domains, leading to the emergence of a new type of patterns. #morphogenesis doi.org/10.1073/pnas... (1/n)
