Small illustrated trash items surround the edges.

It’s a lovely morning in central Pennsylvania for sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee.

Yes although I was thinking things like this. Only 20 feet long or so, adds some greenery (though I’d make it a proper rain garden to reduce runoff)
A suburban two-lane road. The important part of this photo is the 20 foot (or so) median with various plants in it. Enough to stop cars from passing, but not so long as to prevent people from turning into their driveways.

Every hometown’s got the omionus megastructure, what’s yours?
An absurdly tall Doric column with a life-size statue of Henry Clay atop it. The monument is high on a mountainside so it absolutely towers over the town.

This is in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Henry Clay was not from Pottsville. As far as I’m aware, he never even visited Pottsville.

Lush green foliage and a stone patio surround them.

White-breasted nuthatch with prey; Alexandria, Va.; 19 April 2026 🪶🦉
White-breasted nuthatch perched in the fork of a black gum tree, holding an insect in its bill. An orange cargo bike with a beige euro crate and black panniers now also has a yard sign attached to it. The sign reads: “safe Braddock road for everyone, cyclists, pedestrians, drivers. Support the city’s improvement plan!”

And then, bizarrely, there’s a Texaco ad on the back.
The ad reads:
“When you Swing into Spring or any other season of the year, remember that wherever you drive you'll always find a nearby Texaco Dealer — expert and eager to serve you. He is a member of the nation-wide Texaco Dealer family, more than 40,000 strong — and the best friend your car has ever had.

“Better care means a better car.
Texaco Dealers have the finest petroleum products and training to give your car the special care it deserves.

“So stop where you see the big red star with the green ‘T’, the only service station sign that greets motorists on highways and byways all over America.

“Buy the best... buy TEXACO”

Then at the bottom is a black and white photo of a guy in a Texaco uniform. He kinda looks like a cop.

#NowSpinning: Benny Goodman, “Swing into Spring” (1958) Mostly a compilation of material from 1941-53 released for a TV soundtrack. The title track was newly recorded in ‘58 (and featured Doc Severinson). The rare worthwhile thrift shop find for me. Mix of orchestra and small group. #jazzsky
Album art for Benny Goodman’s “Swing into Spring”. The top two thirds is a black in white phot of Benny in profile, playing his clarinet. The bottom third has “Benny Goodman” and “Swing into Spring” set in all caps Helvetica. To create a spring/Easter feel, “swing” is orange, “into” is pink, and “spring” is mint green. Benny’s name is in black.

At the very bottom, in much smaller type (still helvetica) is the track list:
1. The Earl
2. I’ll Never Say ‘Never Again’ Again
3. Undecided
4. Just You, Just Me
5. Perfida
6. Rachel’s Dream
7. What a Little Moonlight Can Do
8. Slipped Disc
9. La Rosita
10. Take It
11. Swing into Spring
