I think Tanya Reynolds looks a lot like Celia Johnson. Not exactly like. But a lot like. Similar eyes, nose, hairline, cheekbones. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

New sourdough starter started. The Day 1 false dawn. Daughter has named it Reece. Dunno why.

I think this chart (from the 'Olympic Britain' report of a decade ago) goes a long way to explain what has gone wrong with our politico-media complex.
Two charts, showing the demographics of UK MPs from 1951 to 2010.

The first shows a sharp decline in former manual workers from the 1980s (particularly in Labour representatives) and a sharp increase in politicians/political organisers over the same period (both Tory and Labour alike).

How I imagine Trump imagines Fairfield. In point of fact it is exactly like this only it says "Fort Fairfield" instead of "Fort Bravo" and the designated dogging area is behind the watch tower.
Playmobil "Fort Bravo" with some civil war era soldiers outside, one on a dappled horse. It flies the stars and stripes.

It's not Tom Baker and Lala Ward, it's Jack Watling and Richard Attenborough, about 35 years earlier.

I have highlighted the passage:

He is best known for...the character of Grandpa in the CBeebies programme Grandpa in My Pocket. He reprised this role in the ITV drama Shipman...

Technically, I think my closest river was the Erewash, which runs into the Trent at Beeston, but my village was on 'the brook' which just springs up and disappears again like most of the little rivers in the part of the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire borders. Good Tolkien name, Erewash.
A little river (the Erewash) running between two treelined banks, shading the bright sunshine.

Combover technology has not improved in recent decades, though it is structurally more robust.
Gregor Fisher with a very poor comedy combover, in a photo booth with an orange curtain behind him. Taken from the 1980s Hamlet Cigar advertising campaign in which a man frustrated by a series of failures resorts to tobacco to soothe himself. They were very successful and exactly the kind of ad that is no longer allowed for that reason!

One of the little subtleties I like about the National Museum in Dublin is that red ink in medieval manuscripts generally indicates the more important text.

It's time for this again.
The trouble with you, Spode, is that just because you have succeeded in inducing a handful of half-wits to disfigure the London scene by going about in black shorts, you think you're someone. You hear them shouting 'Heil, Spode!' and you imagine it is the Voice of the People. That is where you make your bloomer. What the Voice of the People is saying is: 'Look at that frightful ass Spode swanking about in footer bags! Did you ever in your puff see such a perfect perisher?

It was this. I had not actually acquired a CD player at the time. These original Led Zeppelin CD releases were awful. Only marginally better than the increasingly ancient vinyl I played on my Amstrad HiFi. (Not my photo.)

I completely understand that reaction, though it consistently hits something I unexpectedly find funny. This next one leaves me nervous though. It should be more like this (photo my own).
A bus is passing behind a silver car. It has advertising for Only Murders In The Building that's been photoshopped to read Only Murders On The Buses. A picture of Blakey from On The Buses has been dropped into the cast photos.
