Album Review: Eversame
The Bandcamp bio for Eversame’s sophomore LP, LOVE ENDS FAST, AND NEVER, highlights the ways that “we have improved our sound from the first one, blending alt-rock and shoegaze,” promising the album will be “heavier and more refined.” From the first minute of opener “glimmer,” the Slovakian emo band makes good on that promise. The riff that introduces the record is monstrous, a thick slab of noise that rattles like the heaviest moments on Siamese Dream or 12th House Rock, and when the vocals come in, they’re reduced to runny smears caked in feedback. The wide-ranging, atmospheric emo sound Eversame cultivated on 2023’s tell me where the flowers are was, in hindsight, only practice.
