Remember as a kid a visiting cinema coming to the 'Band Room' Monday's in the village I grew up in, Emley(near the mast) mostly cowboys and Indians films, a thrill in the mid 50's. Also a cinema at nearby Skelmanthorpe, bus every Weds, if it was a long film like 'Quo Vadis'never got to see the end🙄

They're also bringing up Michelle's grandson, kinship carers, which incidentally is the subject matter of her Ph.D research. So much kinship care goes on, unsupported and unrecognised. My son works as a counsellor for suicide attempters, stressful but rewarding. Their home is chaotic but loving. 🙂

Proud to announce my Horsforth daughter in law, married to my youngest son, after a 'Vida Voce' grilling today has achieved her Ph.D. What is remarkable, Michelle was a mum at 16 and is the mum of my SEN grandson along with raising 3 other kids. There is so much untapped talent if given the chance😊

I wish.. ... journey was with my girlfriend at the time Via Dover- Calais, Paris, Dijon, Geneva, thru Mt Blanc tunnel, Aosta, Torino to Diana-Marina on the Med. Visited Monte Carlo, my old MGB looked very out of place outside The Casino On return had to top up water hourly as cylinder head cracked🙄

Following last flowering in June (pic 3) the Yukka is at it again in autumn, rapidly pushing up 2 more flower stems. It you were lucky it would flower every 4 or 5 years. For the last few years at least once annually. Nowt to to do with any gardening proficiency by me. Maybe I give it good vibes 😃😇

My late mum, aged about 80, went to her first football match. Man U 1 vs Juventus 0, Champions League. Seated in Stretford End, loved all the chanting and swearing. They took her again for a Prem League game against Everton. This time seated on halfway line, didn't like it as much, far too quiet.🙄😅

I met a localish lass on her horse from Slaithwaite, Colne Valley on the PB in that area when I had come off Lantern Pike. It was very hot, the horse was puffing after having ascended from Hayfield. That was the only horse I've seen on any section the Pennine Bridleway.

They've also got one on the M74, the original one at Tebay were a local Orton family. Money saving tip, at Jct 38, 1 mile south of Tebay svs, M6 Truckstop, also owned by the same family, still high quality grub but 33% cheaper, not motorway prices, same with road fuel, also good shop quality food👍

My next door neighbour used to import pallets of port, red, white and rose, until he passed away a couple of years ago. Hugh was a freemason, so much of it got guzzled there, however there was always enough for me at a very low price😃 Brandy and Port is known to fix stomach ailments 👍

Many of you may remember Paul Besley from his twitter days Paul wrote several walking guides on the @peakdistrict.bsky.social and his highly regarded book 'The Search'. Sadly Paul passed away on September 1st after coping courageously with terminal asbestosis.Paul was writing until his final day. 🙏

If you look above your boot over to Place Fell you can make out the diagonal, little used route up the fell. It really is a super quiet route, no difficulties, comes out somewhere near 'The Knight' then onto the summit. I've encountered badgers on that route. Regards, Bill's quality routes service☺️
