Proud to announce my Horsforth daughter in law, married to my youngest son, after a 'Vida Voce' grilling today has achieved her Ph.D. What is remarkable, Michelle was a mum at 16 and is the mum of my SEN grandson along with raising 3 other kids. There is so much untapped talent if given the chance😊

Following last flowering in June (pic 3) the Yukka is at it again in autumn, rapidly pushing up 2 more flower stems. It you were lucky it would flower every 4 or 5 years. For the last few years at least once annually. Nowt to to do with any gardening proficiency by me. Maybe I give it good vibes 😃😇

Many of you may remember Paul Besley from his twitter days Paul wrote several walking guides on the @peakdistrict.bsky.social and his highly regarded book 'The Search'. Sadly Paul passed away on September 1st after coping courageously with terminal asbestosis.Paul was writing until his final day. 🙏

24 hours after leaving Manchester airport, family in Japan have arrived at Tokyo International Airport, Narita, which is in the Yokohama area, near the coast. Eldest son arrived from Japan last Wednesday to join my Japanese daughter in law and granddaughter 🥰 who arrived 2 weeks earlier. He arrived moaning about the dullest, coolest weather we've had in 2 months🙄 However it's forecast to be far sunnier and drier for a week now than Tokyo. Moaning over 😄😁

Eldest son has just climbed Mt Akagi, near where he lives in Japan. Obviously he hasn't been doing enough stuff, pic 3, holding his 27 year old boots up, which he keeps gluing back together 🙄 proper Yorkshire 'make do and mend'😅 He arrives in the UK Wednesday to join the rest of his family here.😊

Re the Dovestones and Longdendale moorland fires. The last thing the firefighters needed was a car bursting into flames, setting more moorland on fire. The Woodhead Pass will now be closed all week.

Another World Cup passes by. I was 20 when I saw England win it at Wembley. A helluva lot of the 100,000 crowd will now be dead. As each year passes I'll be part of a diminishing handful of folk who shared that experience.☺️ Good try England but the wait goes on🙄

Emley AFC got to the 3rd round of the FA cup, away at West Ham who were riding high at the time The West Ham team included Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard and John Hartson, who scored the winner near the end. 2-1.
