In souls-like games, on one hand I find getting stuck on a boss or area very frustrating but I think there is something extremely funny about having walked the same route a hundred times and demolishing every minor enemy in my path, their death having become nothing but muscle memory to me.

Having played it for only about 2 hours so far, Mortal Shel II is by far the coolest game I've played in a long time- which isn't necessarily the same as the best game, but the art direction is so good I keep saying under my breath "fuuuuck that's so cool.."

I appreciate all the replies so far <3 I want to give some added context for honesty - this is a hobby/passion project. Unfortunately until we find funding we don't have a budget - we're still in pre-production, the first few months will be mostly focussed on concept art while we work out the story

I'm not saying it doesn't HAPPEN, but "all weird indie TTRPGs are a kink thing" is reductive. There is also "designing RPGs to publish your worldbuilding bible", "designing RPGs because you invented a neat dice trick", "designing RPGs to win an argument", and "designing RPGs as an act of self harm".
