Schulsport hat mir beigebracht Sport zu vermeiden. Denn das war nur demütigend, ätzend und abwertend. Es fühlte sich immer unfair an. Wie ein Spiel das ich eh nie gewinnen kann. Ziel war immer die Schulstunde zu überleben, ohne das letzte bisschen Würde und Selbstwertgefühl zu verlieren.

Heute erfahren, dass eine Kollegin verstorben ist. Im November haben wir uns noch gesehen und sie war quicklebendig. Dann hatte sie im Dezember einen Unfall mit Verbrennungen und jetzt werden wir uns nie wieder sehen. Da sieht man mal wieder, schnell es leider gehen kann.

TO PREFACE: i am vehemently against sneaking into someone's phone and going through it. i believe if there isn't trust in a relationship, you shouldn't be in that relationship. I've been dating a guy for 6 months, We'll call him Ryan. I have caught Ryan going through my ipad (which he knew the password to), in the middle of the night a few times. After the second time, i confronted him very nicely, and told him that if he wanted to see what was on my ipad or phone, that he just ask and i'll let him. i also told him that i don't want him sneaking through my stuff, because i felt that wasn't trustworthy. he apologized, said he was a loser, etc etc.- also, he didn't find anything because i wasn't doing anything weird.

Pretext for the next paragraph- i have definitely been burned before, and have also secretly gone through phones (but not this relationship). i'll get this weird gut feeling that something is wrong, and ive always been right so far.

This past week, ive just had a bad feeling, specifically about snapchat. We are long distance (only like 6 hours, and we see eachother every two weeks or so), so he came to visit, and for the first few days i held my tongue. I felt weirder because he kept his phone in his coat pocket and was never on it around me. finally on the last day he was here, (we were about to make a gingerbread house and listen to christmas music), i said "hey this is hard to bring up, and i've been wanting to all weekend, but i just have a weird feeling specifically about Snapchat.

Eventually he's standing by the door and holds up the UGG slippers i just gave him THE DAY BEFORE as an early christmas present. i tell him to leave them. i also told him that if he walks out the door, i will not trust him again, and it's the end of our relationship. You guessed it, he left. an hour later i left my apartment to go take a walk to burn off steam and he's still sitting by the elevator, i just walked past.

So i'm asking, am i the insane one (because he vehemently denies doing any wrong) or is there something fishy

feeling specifically about Snapchat. can i see your phone." i also followed it with "i don't want this to be an all the time thing, i don't want to be looking at your phone, something just doesn't feel right and i need to go with my gut" and he said "no i don't think I'll do that". WHAT.

There was a little back and forth. i told him that if i was feeling the same way, i would show him my phone just to ease those feelings. He said he doesn't believe in that (mind you, he's been caught going through my stuff multiple times). He says that the feeling will fade, and if i still feel like this next week when he sees me, i can look at it (as if im dumb). Then he starts packing and saying he "feels like he needs to leave

My take is that "women are happier single" is just an attempt to restructure the sexual marketplace from older, bitter women. Women think that by claiming they need men less than men need women, it will allow them to be more picky as far as what they can demand from a partner; which never works out in reality.

This concept was introduced to me as "run the dishwasher twice" and was an important part of my executive functioning recovery as well as my path to self-acceptance.

When I was at one of my lowest (mental) points in life, I couldn't get out of bed some days. I had no energy or motivation and was barely getting by.

I had therapy once per week, and on this particular week I didn't have much to 'bring' to the session. He asked how my week was and I really had nothing to say.

'What are you struggling with?' he asked.

I gestured around me and said 'I dunno man. Life.'

Not satisfied with my answer, he said 'No, what exactly are you worried about right now? What feels overwhelming? When you go home after this session, what issue will be staring at you?'

I knew the answer, but it was so ridiculous that I didn't want to say it. I wanted to have something more substantial.
Something more profound.

But I didn't.

So I told him, 'Honestly? The dishes. It's stupid, I know, but the more I look at them the more I CAN'T do them because I'll have to scrub them before I put them in the dishwasher, because the dishwasher sucks, and I just can't stand and scrub the dishes.'

I felt like an idiot even saying it.

What kind of grown ass woman is undone by a stack of dishes? There are people out there with *actual* problems, and I'm whining to my therapist about dishes?

But he nodded in understanding and then said:

'RUN THE DISHWASHER TWICE.'

I began to tell him that you're not supposed to, but he stopped me.

'Why the hell aren't you supposed to? If you don't want to scrub the dishes and your dishwasher sucks, run it twice. Run it three times, who cares?! Rules do not exist.'

It blew my mind in a way that I don't think I can properly express.

That day, I went home and tossed my smelly dishes haphazardly into the dishwasher and ran it three times.

I felt like I had conquered a dragon.

The next day, I took a shower lying down.

A few days later. I folded my laundry and put them wherever the fuck they fit.

There were no longer arbitrary rules I had to follow, and it gave me the freedom to make accomplishments again.

Now that I'm in a healthier place, I rinse off my dishes and put them in the dishwasher properly. I shower standing up. I sort my laundry.

But at a time when living was a struggle instead of a blessing, I learned an incredibly important lesson:

THERE ARE NO RULES. RUN THE DISHWASHER TWICE!!!"
