Bike/train to Flamborough after leaving work early for this Lapland lifer. Constantly feeding away within metres of the many passing coastal walkers. Time well spent. #yorksbirders #ukbirders

RSPB pelagic trip this morning - Skuas included Arctic, Great and a couple of Long tail’s. Manx shearwater, little gulls and some nice looking RT divers passing by. Plenty of green faces onboard 🤢 #yorksbirding #ukbirding

Yesterday saw a Train to Filey turn up Black tern, knot, a couple of wheatear and plenty more seabirds enjoying the wind a little more than I. Cracking Greenshank at the the dams too #yorksbirding #ukbirding

Sorry I didn’t recognise you earlier. I do need to pay more attention to people’s profile pics. 😊

The RSPB & Wildlife trusts obviously have bigger problems to deal with but it is disappointing that this seems so low on their agendas.

Yesterday’s weekly Spurn visit was a little on the quiet side for the recent passerine movement. A walk to the point saw some mipit and hirundine numbers moving along. Cracking views though. #yorksbirding #ukbirding

Look forward to seeing how this develops and if it can protect and restore such a vital area for the wildlife

What’s Going On At Priory Meadows? It may appear to be just some grass fields, but the meadows are essential ecological spaces which need protection, our greenbelt governance correspondent Angus Young reports curiosityhull.co.uk/whats-going-... @hulllibraries.bsky.social @angusyoung61.bsky.social

Look forward to seeing what the community interest Co can do with the fields. It’s a small area but it enables so much wildlife in an otherwise concrete area

Saturday spent at Spurn again and mostly at Beacon ponds with a showy pectoral sandpiper and surprise BN grebe. Yellow legged gulls at the wetlands pulled the birders away for a while #yorksbirding #ukbirding

Barred warbler showed for me at last during today’s trip to the east coast. Bempton also had plenty of flycatchers, Wheatear and Whinchat fattening up. A Red-backed shrike at Buckton and a short bike ride saw me in a field at Flamborough with the wonderful Wryneck #yorksbirding #ukbirding

A busy day for birds and birders at Spurn yesterday. I’ve never seen so many flycatchers and willow warblers but then I’m still a nipper in birding terms. Finally clapped eyes on a wood warbler. Tree pipit popped up whilst eating my sarnie in the church field. #yorksbirding #ukbirding

That’s a lot of oystercatchers 😊 Did you see the Merlin up on Carr naze? Always a bird that takes me by surprise. It wasn’t quite so calm on Friday but very quiet on the people front.

Thanks Dawn. I’ve looked at some similar routes/options, none that have appealed enough for me to get up and go. I’ll just have to continue admiring the bird from afar

Morning visit to Filey brigg on Friday brought fantastic views of juvenile sanderling, Little stint and more. A first look at a common redstart for the year also. #yorksbirding #ukbirding

This weekend spurn visit turned up an unexpected 2nd chance at Buff-breasted sandpiper. A bird I’d been longing to see, shame about the heat haze but beggars etc #yorksbirders #ukbirding

First visit to Tohill low in some time produced some Good Friday birding. Wood, Green and common sands very showy. Northern rail tried ruining it but my new electric bike (bad knees) helped me home eventually

Imagine if we lived in an alternate reality where we had an event called 'Birdfair' that promoted high carbon travel in a climate emergency, and everyone shared their pictures from the event, but there were no birds, just people promoting themselves.

Birding on Saturday & Sunday inc visits to Buckton, Bempton and North Cave. First views of C. Tern, Sedge warbler and Housemartin. The wheatear’s are eluding me thus far. #yorksbirding #ukbirding

Now that is soul destroying, completely lost touch with why they started birding in the first place. I’ve experienced it a few times myself. Pale legged leaf warbler was terrible, didn’t enjoy the Flamboro Red headed bunting either.

That’s some going 😳 Do you mean the way that twitchers were behaving to see the bird or something completely different? If I make it to 300 UK I’ll a happy chap

It feels rude to ask someone’s life list but that’s hell of a list of counties to be fair. I’ve never seen so many birds on the UK list but it’s nice to have something to aim for

YorkshireWarbler @yorkshirewarbler.bsky.social · 09/04/2026
Oh no, definitely not. I enjoy visiting new places but unless there’s a lottery win 🤞 I’m sure it is better late than never but I can understand what you’re saying. I look at all the young birders at places like Spurn and wonder what took me so long
