It is very poignant to pause by the Tommy Memorial on Driffield station and know you are standing in the same place as the soldiers on the photos did as they waited to go off to war, some never to return. We have placed a wreath there in memory of them all. Lest we forget.

200 years ago on the 27th September 1825 Locomotion No. 1 pulled coal wagons and passenger coaches from Shildon to Stockton on the first steam-hauled fare-paying passenger journey on a public railway. This 26-mile trip transformed how the world traded and travelled. #Railway200
